Hi all!

I drive a Punto MK1 60s and I've just spent the last 2hrs trying to fit the stupid spare tyre/jack/tool kit under my carpet in my boot, for some reason it doesn't look or feel right. The damn thing is driving me crazy! I was just wondering if anyone could really help me and take a picture of what it looks like when its in perfect. Should there be a slight rise in the carpet? or should it be perfect flat?

Thanks for your help in advance ~ Dan

firsly you should make sure that you have the right spare wheel, it should be one of them coloured skinny wheels.,
then you need the plastic bit that the jack goes in, if you look at it closely theres a little sign where the black plastic part on the jack sits in so you line it up properly., the jack needs to be open to fit in so turn the black part untill the jack feels like its sitting in proper., put the wheel in the boot with the face of it pointing down and but the jack on top, then put the screw through the tool panel bit and down through the jack part so that it screws into the base.,
if you dont have the jack in its plastic casing thing properly then the screw that holds it all together will be blocked by the threaded bar in the jack when you try to put it together.,
hope that helps.,(y)

I remember as well i couldint do it, my dad had to for me lol  im sure the jack has to be at an angle to fit flush, but i still couldint get it.. :bang:

Thanks for your help, i've given it a go and got it slightly better. I'll take some pics tomorow and post them see if you can tell whats wrong

lol., also the tool tray has a cutout in it for the base part of the jack to fit through wen your putting it all back together,., i have a feeling thats what your doing wrong.,lol.,:p :D (y)

I'm excellent a jig-saw puzzles and I make model cars so putting stuff together isn't a problem, but I remember the last time I used my jack it took me ages to fit it all in perfectly and I still think there is a small rise in the middle of the boot carpet. I think its just a case of persistance pays off.

My mate at college has also got a punto and after lecture yesterday we tried to see if we can get his right but both of us couldn't do it also

For some reason on the jack stand thing the head of the jack doesn't seem to go onto the black bit sticking up of the stand :(

Anyway here are the pictures:

Here is it what it looks all together.

As you can see there is a gap between the tool kit and the tyre  i dont know if this is meant to be there, but this is what seems to be causing the unevenness(duno if thats a word) in the boot.

Where my hand is pointing is just left of the spare tyre, this is where it dips down and if i push in i can feel a gap!

To be fair i'm probably just being fussy! but i know that everytime i look in my boot now i'm going to be like..... GRRRR! Tell me what u think, if it looks right or not :worship:

thanks all ~ Dan

you may have the jack upside down, as Idon't think its symetrical.

that said, mine has a slight gap bettween wheel and black tray thing, but not as much as that!!!

not much chance of me getting in the boot though, theres about 3kites, 1 mountain board&bag, 5-10KILO's of sand, and some stinking shoes.
so I woul love to help, btu I'm not going in the boot unless I have to :(

mine has a gap like that but have you had a look under the boot floor underneath the car tyre fiters regularly jack the car under there regardless of the damage it does mabey thats why it is unusualy high allthou doo bear in mind the floor is ment to sit on the tray thats what holds it up

i have seen quickfit throw jacks under cars and lift without a fort in the world to what they may be crushing brake fuel pipes excetara i was only picking up tyres for my car to fit my self wont let them near my car ever

i think its the jack thats my problem, it doesn't slot onto the black thing sticking up out of the stand, i'll try it again tomorow and take pictures of the jack and stand lol..

.. I can't believe something that sounds so easy is so challenging for me haha soon i'll be taking it to the garage to put my spare tyre back in the boot lol
