Yup, it's easy, mine was a tad tight though, had to use a strap wrench to get it off

Yeah it just unscrews off, once you fit new one hand tight turn ignition on but do not start untill the fuel pump stops making its noise, then start up if you dont then you will get air in the injectors, this means going to a dealer to sort.

I was told you have to let the pump prime 10 times before you can start it...

10 times would probably be enough to do the job. The thing is self bleeding and if you leave it on for long enough you should hear the bubbling stop.

No, different cars have slightly different procedures as some are self bleeding and some are not. If you get air in the lines it isn't the end of the world you can just bleed them on most older diesel cars (I have done a Rover fitted with a turbo XUD, Vauxhall DI, Punto JTD, Perkins Prima and the newer N/A 206 diesel although I wouldn't want to do any PD engined car or a newer common rail :eek:

I usually take the filter off, fill the new one with forte and refit. Never get any air in the system in the first place therefore no need to bleed.
