What is this bolt, I have even tried a 5mm hexagonal socket but it doesn't work. Do I need a smaller size? If so, where can I get them as I never see anhy sockets smaller than about 6mm.

Just for context, I am trying to replace my pollen filter on my Fiat Punto Evo Sporting 1.4 Turbo.
I have attached a picture.

They are 5.5mm

I think the ones in Andys guide were Torx..

99% sure mine were 5.5..as its a size I often find.. so keep a tool on hand

Cheap 1/8" drive sets have these..

There is no great load to this securing screw.. just nipped up

So a 'screwdriver' with the socket on works well
