HI, newbie here hoping someone can help please.

I have a 60 plate punto evidence that, everything I indicate left, also turns on the dipped headlamps (if they are not already on). Usual lights for headlamps come on on dashboard too. Also tells me the boot is open when it isn't, not constantly but flashes on and off sporadically.

Does anybody have any suggestions please? Not really car minded but hubbie can do basic electrics if he knows where to start.
Thank you for any help given

Hi, and welcome, :)

sounds ODD, like a poor earth to me..,

check the wiring to the tailgate (under a rubber boot) for damage,

otherwise have a look through this;

IDEA: thinking about this..

are you sure it's not got "cornering lights" front fogs that come on when turning..;)

rear hatch could just be the electric button..,

there should be GUIDES in the punto evo , or Grande sections..as MOST of the cars are the same,

Thank's for these ideas. Will check tailgate wiring when it's dry enough - definitely not the turning lights coming I with the indicator - as so as I move the stalk the lights come on, along with two symbols in the dashboard as I would expect with lights on, don't need to have turned the steering wheel. I've stood outside the car and looked, turning lights come on as normal once the wheel is turned. It's only with the left indicator and not the right - husband thinks must be something to do wit the stalk . . . .

hi ,
worth trying the hazard switch.. so all 6 indicators FLASH..see if anything else does..;)

there is potential for the clever wiring used on modern cars (CANBUS) to become "confused" , it might be worth trying a reset before paying for a new stalk,

Sounds like a reset might be worth a try - are you able to point me in the direction of instructions to do this, please

Many thanks

there is a diagnostic port in the fusebox , by the drivers right knee,

plug in a device, and the software can do this.

where are you / the car based..??

in the meantime,
disconnecting battery power may just reset something.. or of course there is always the old trick of slackening the steering "rake adjuster", move through a few low to high ranges, then clamp back in the middle,
the cabling is so tightly bunched it's not unheard of to cause a few issues,
