Error With Punto Evo U1715

Got a problem with a punto evo 2010 1.4 turbo 16v multiair

On the dash a message shows up with ESP unavailable and Hill hold unavailable

I scanned for codes on the engine and got back Error U1715 - Side Acceler./Yaw Node (NYL)

Does anyone understand this error? I have cleared it but ii returns

Re: Error With Punto Evo U1715

Sounds like the accelerometer that measures sideways acceleration/"g force" has packed up (or rather the CAN node that it sits in has got issues).

certainly a canbus related fault

@zanes seems to be pretty much on the money there.. judging by your description,

EDIT - looks like you've scanned the ABS - NOT the ENGINE..!! ; - }

Re: Error With Punto Evo U1715

Yeah it was the ABS I connected it, shows at the bottom of the picture, got mixed up

Where would I find the accelerometer or the can node?

I read also could be the YAW sensor?

They're possibly the same thing. I always thought that yaw sensors were gyros but I guess they could be an acclerometer too. I would have thought they'd all be packaged together in the ESP "can" that's under the bonnet.

Is there any pictures on the forum to show where abouts I need to look?

I also read that the YAW sensor is near the gear stick and handbrake? Not but I'm not sure how to remove this part to access to have a look

Re: Error With Punto Evo U1715

Did you manage to find the yaw sensor ?

It has to be bolted on chassis, possibly the region you mentioned. But not sure.
Don't know any doc for the Evo. Perhaps can I find something on Grande Punto if you want.

After some search, I found on the Grande Punto the YAW sensor is behind the gear stick, under the cover of handbrake. I can't verify this on my car, because I don't have ESP.

To remove the handbrake cover, you have to pull on it. I start with the rear part, it's more easy to take it. Never removed it completely, not necessary to set the handbrake tensioner.

Procedure :

Hope this help

I can't seem to figure out how to remove the hand brake surround, is it screwed in somewhere?
