I have just picked up a brochure for the new 2012 Punto range. I have had five Fiats over the years and would have changed my Grande Punto 2006 for an Evo but have hung onto it, as I couldn't customise the stereo system as well as before. Now things have moved on again and the dealer says that the MP3 player stand is an after market add on, and also there is NO dab radio available, just the same old FM / crackly AM combination.

Now these things may not be deal breakers for some but I am seriously thinking of moving to another brand, as FIAT need to get their act together in this area. These are no longer new technologies and there is no excuse for them not to be available, although I can accept that in the case of DAB radio it could be an optional add on. Unfortunately, it is not available at all. Also I don't want to be having to keep opening the glove box to connect my iPod / iPhone all the time.

FIAT need to understand that we are in a digital world and that the driving experience is not just how you get from A to B. It's about what the car offers in order to enhance the driving experience.

What do other people think? Am I being too picky, or is this a valid thing to be asking FIAT to sort.

maybe a bit. What other manufacturers in that price range others DAB? And why so insistent on DAB, it's highly compressed. If you want the best quality possible load your ipod with lossless audio and plug it in. In the Evo an ipod plugs into the usb socket in front of the gearstick, not in the glove box.
