Condensation in both rear light clusters!

I noticed the other day that when I got home there was condensation in the rear light clusters, where the LED strips are near the bottom, I thought to myself, **** I've not put them back on tight enough.

Well I have put them back on tight enough and found that the condensation is in a part of the light which is completely sealed, the brake and indicator bulbs are behind a plastic lense inside the main unit.

If I had put it on not tight enough there would only be condensation in the indicator and brake light bulb compartments.

This means somewhere around the sealed edges of the light water had got in and I can't get rid of it. The car is going into the dealer soon and I will bring this up.

My old gande lights never did this and I took them off loads of times . . . . .

Re: Condensation in both rear light clusters!

I keep getting this!!! booked it in and the day it went in it kept dissapearing!!
it happens occasionally but because the outer lenses are so far from the bulbs it stops them heating it up enough to get rid of the condensation, a design flaw if anything.

i dont think even getting new lamps will stop it as they all come with a breathing hole so the water will get in a little, but as our weather is crap nothing we can do!

Re: Condensation in both rear light clusters!

I had exactly same problem as soon as I picked up my evo. So I booked it in and they said they needed to order 2 parts to fix it and will ring me when they have the part. I'm still waiting to hear from them.

Will update when I have them fixed.

My rear lights kept steamed up, i've just had the bulb holders replaced last week as the dealer reckons the lights were leaking hence the leak in the book. Not really checked on it since to see if the leak into boot has stopped yet - I should prob do that

Yup, same on mine. Both fog up, esp. now in this cold weather.

Is this like the Stilo? I know when I got my Stilo (after they were launched) for some reason "breathers" were missing from the front headlamps. Garage had to retro fit 'em.

Re: Condensation in both rear light clusters!

I noticed this on both my rear lights today, is it a real problem? i.e is it worth me phoning the dealership or would this just be a "cosmetic" problem that can be ignored?

Add me to the list, 1.4 GP 5 door, offside cluster has permanent condensation, it just wont clear, nearside suffers but it does eventually clear.
Due to work shifts will have to wait till after crimbo to get it sorted.

Re: Condensation in both rear light clusters!

sorry to bring up a old thread but thought I would update !

I picked my car up today from the dealer as they have fitted some rear light cluster things. WHich should fix it i guess, will report back in a few days to confirm.

Also someone metioned about the clutch pedam making a noise, I also told them about it and then oiled up the clutch cable or somit. Not heard it since I picked it up so touch wood its gone.
