General Condensation in both rear light clusters!

General Condensation in both rear light clusters!

I have same problem pay 15 grand for a car and rear light fill with condensation fiat customer services are one big joke!! Ive been told by tech engineer from fiat us who visited my car for engine noise that its the design of the lamps there supposed to fill up and then vent out inside the car ?

Load of crap if you ask me what about all the water staining on the inside of the clear lens????

Anyone had theres rectified yet???

My rear lights have now been replaced 3 times and they are still misting up inside. I have had nothing but problems wit my Evo since day 1 and i am appalled at Fiat's shoddy customer service. My local dealer is aware of the problems i have had with the rear lights and they have replaced them 3 times and now they want photographic evidence that they are misting up!

So now i have to send photos to Fiat to prove i have condensation in the rear lights even though the dealer is aware of the problems Evo owners are having. I personally think that because i am quite picky (and i think i have the right to be after spending 16k on a new car!!) that they think i'm trying it on!

It'll keep going back in for new lights until it's been sorted although it's the hassle of dropping the car off each time! It'd be nice to hear if anyone has had a decent fix.

Well I have been back twice to get replacments and both times it failed to fix it, took it back yesturday and my dealer said they will contact fiat. I got a call today saying that fiat were not aware of a proplem with the rear lights on my car chassis number so asked if I can take it to the garage to take photos. Later today I got another phone call saying fiat are sending a special technician on tuesday to come look at my car. :bang:

So we shall see.

In my car also, both rear light clusters seem to have condensation periodically.I've also had problem with the co-driver's indicator light which had water in it, but it was changed and the problem solved.

Update on my fiat tech guy visit.

They came look at my car, they brought with them a new set of rear lights that they had tested to not have condensation in them and replaced my current rear lights with these.

So I thought oh great fixed after my 3rd time trying. BUT not, got in the car this morning (was raining) and there was nothing, as soon as I got to uni, there was condensation. :bang:

So phoned them dealer up who are going to contact fiat again. (n)

Just had a phone another phone call from dealer.

They said that fiat have no idea what the problem is as they gave me a set of lights that were tested. (clearly not very well).

So I now have to prove to the dealer that there is condensation within the light. So next time I go past and it has condensation I will show them.

3rd time they have tried and failed to fix it. (n)

I was having a flick through the owner’s manual last night and came across a paragraph that states that it is normal for the inside of the lights to mist up at times, the only time that it is a cause for concern is if you can see actual droplets of water within the light, only at that point does this then become an issue.
Hope that puts a lot of your minds at rest (y).

Just a pity that Fiat couldn’t remember and tell people this when they have been reporting it as an issue… would save a lot of bother!

At times yes, not all the time, but usually the heat of the bulbs will get rid of that condensation.

However we have LED's which would never achieve this heated effect and therefor we will never have a clear light, I always have condensation in mine.

I didn't notice any misting on mine until the weather changed tbh

I'm not worried after reading that, if I see droplets in there ill get it sorted but for spots of mist I'll leave it!

I'm still being fussy and complaining about it still. I don't know of any other cars that have this, I could be wrong but still.

I never bought my car with the added condensation option !

:bang:

Completely agree. I've never known a car where it's normal to have mist in the lights. Why design the EVOs rear lights so swish with led strips and not mist proof them so you cant even see that nice design?

I used to get condensation in the front lights of my Ford Puma, as did alot of owners. The fix back then was to drill a couple of small holes into the bottom of the lens, a bit drastic perhaps, but it seemed to work.

:) Update.
As posted my 1.4 GP had permanent condensation in the offside cluster.
In fact had got worse since Xmas with water collecting in it.
Finally got around to booking it in this week, cluster is totally U/S and they have ordered a new unit which should be in this week.
Hopefully this will sort it out. (y)

Well ill update my self again.

I went back to the dealer to let them try to fix it for the 4th time. They said they modified by adding their "own" extra membrane. I thought great fixed. Next day, their fix did nothing. So I went straight back, they said well they can't fix something that is a problem because of fiats bad design.

So again I said I did not buy the car for this condensation feature and that it shouldn't be there. So he told me to ring fiat, which I was annoyed about. They are "looking" into and I should hear a phone call this week.

I had the rear clusters changed but they still get condensation in them. To be honest it's not such a big problem that if Fiat can't sort it I'm not going to want the car so I'll wait until they have a definite fix then contact them.

New to forum. My new Punto Evo already been in once for 'fix' to rear light clusters which fogged up regularly. Now waiting to hear on replacement of light clusters. Waiting 2 weeks so far ! Today noticed that there is a good deal of rainwater around rubber seals of boot....I've had 3 puntos before this and not had any of these probems. Shocking. So much for evolution !

Car was in yesterday to replace offside unit.
Bright and sunny 8c here at the moment, just popped out and checked the car, what a surprise, condensation in the new unit.
