So, I just drove home in the dark when my Evo cut out completely!! (n)

Everything just went off, no dash, no lights, no engine, no DRLs, thankfully managed to brake in the pitch black in a straight line and put the hazards on. They worked. So there I was sitting in the pitch black.

Also thankfully no car behind me to crash into me before I got to the hazards.

It did restart immediately when I turned the key.

Isn't this possibly one of the worst things that could happen to you, especially while at night.

I think I've just lost ALL faith in my Evo, certainly considering all the faults it's had to date.

Anyone else had theirs cut out?

I'm in two minds now whether to even drive it to the garage or just tell them to come and pick it up.

make a list of all the reasons a car 'can' cut out & you'll be amazed they work at all !

Get garage to pick it up (I take it its under warranty?)

p.s. how's molly?

I had my 04 Punto Active Sport cut out on me like that once or twice when it was just a few weeks old - engine died, headlights went out, and I think the clock or odometer reset itself too. It was in at the garage for a week until they could find the problem. If I remember correctly it turned out to be loose earth connection to the battery (its so long ago!). Never did it again after they checked it.

My parents Grande Sporting died whilst my being driven, it was only 2 weeks old at the time.
My mum had popped out to the shops and on taking a fairly sharp bend the car cut out losing the power steering etc… gave her a real fright at the time.
She demanded that the garage picked it up for repair… apparently the alternator was faulty so they replaced it.
Thankfully it’s never happened again.

Yes still under warranty. Only 8888 kms. I'll get them to pick it up.

It can be fixed, unlike...

Sadly, last night at 0:44, Molly died in my arms while being put to sleep. She picked up alot over the last week but last night she had a seizure. We now suspect she had a brain tumor and had a sudden hemorrage. Her condition last night was something I never want to see again in any dog.

It was so sad.

oh mate i'm so sorry for your loss, I knew she was bad which is why I asked. Its one of the worse things saying goodbye to a faithful friend, poor Molly.

Thankyou.

She was only 8 years and 4 months old. Seems a little too young to me.

Needless to say, the Evo problem is the least of my concerns right now.

Just a little update, after finally getting round to booking it in, the garage found nothing wrong. Took them a week to look at it! Mind you, they told me there were loads of updates to apply, my Evo hasn't been to the garage before May!

Took a 2 hour trip yesterday, a little concerned over it cutting out, thankfully it didn't. So fingers crossed. (y)

Don’t you just hate it when a problem can’t be pinpointed! Always leaves you with an uneasy feeling and then just when you forget about it …bang it comes back!

Nice looking pup by the way... that’s my kind of car alarm! (y)

Thanks. The 2 hour trip was to pick her up and she loved the Evo. Kept trying to climb into the rear door panels though!

Glad it didn't cut out at 130kph along the motorway! (That's the Evo, lol, not the puppy!)
