How can you dislike anybody like a traffic warden?! I never understand that. Would you rather people just park everywhere?! Dole officers? Rather we all get ripped off?

There are real occupations to hate, like Pete said, estate agents always seem to come high on people's list!

I once parked in an empty street, car running, baby in car, whilst Jules ran into a shop on a Saturday morning to pick something up - I was parked legally, just didn't buy a ticket for the whole of these 2 minutes - yes, a traffic warden came up to me, looked at my car, looked at the machine to see if broken, then demanded I buy a ticket - I told him where to go in no polite terms....What a jobs worth - what exactly was his point?

oh no, you can't attack a whole occupation for something like that! Sure, the guy overstepped the mark (although he should have asked you to move on....you hadn't paid, others had...) but that doesn't mean they are all bad. Get rid of them for a week and you would beg for them back! lol.

I mean I have had bad teachers in my time, absolutely useless ones, but that doesn't mean I can say "teaching is a crap occupation" lol.

If you don't park in stupid places or try to buck the system, you won't fall victim. The only reason people hate traffic wardens or dole officers is if they've been caught doing something they shouldn't.

This makes me look like a hypocrite though, especially after my defense of speeding! Ah well, never said I was clever

lol, but you could argue parking in the wrong place can be a lot more dangerous than speeding in certain cases and I would completely agree. But then Stu's 2 mins compared to 50mph in a 20 zone is obviously a different story, it's all relative.

I guess I still have a lot of wisdom to gain from life...!

Lol, what others? I was in an empty street, no one around. Granted, one bad thorn, maybe. I actually got so mad, I drove across like a loon to the other side of the street, and spouted 'what you gonna do now?' - he walked off in the end; I was so worried I was gonna get a ticket anyway [the fact he never physically put it on my windscreen would be no defence, he would say he had done] - I actually drove round the block, caught up with him and asked him for his collar number - he pretended not to hear me - lol - oh the joys of Saturday morning jaunts into town!.

In Rugby, the two female traffic wardens are really friendly, will chat, ask people to move on, etc. However, always avoid them at the start of the month - it is a known fact they try and get their monthly quota out in the first week, and then take it easier for the rest of the month.

what so is it like they get commission (well not literally) they have a set goal of tickets to hand out each month[:0]

I think in Rugby you have quotas - like any government body, you do it too well, and they expect more and more each month. Therefore, if they stick to their agreed quota, job done - not the right attitude as such, but what would you do in that situation!

I found this out from local estate agents. Basically, hit quota in week one, relax rest of month, and then only give tickets out if really needed. As I said, the two wardens round here are really friendly, will always bend over backwards to find someone if parked illegally, and not just slap a ticket on.

I hate the Tax man most. If no-one had to pay tax you could afford parking tickets etc. I know there would be some set backs to not paying tax though. I live on quite a busy road and when you get some tw*t that parks over a junction or on double yellow you hope that a Traffic Warden will ticket them as you have to stop all the time to let other cars/buses pass. I think Traffic Wardens should also book people that take up 2 or 3 parking spaces with one car!

Never disliked traffic wardens til this morning, I got a parking ticket! Ouch he he. It's ironic I started this poll and ended up getting a ticket 24 hours later lol!

i have a trafic wardens hat... yes a real one, there was this fat woman warden about to give some BMW a ticket, as she bent over an lifted the wiper BLAM off went her hat... lol it sits in my room on top of the bollard i got off a junction (the rectangle ones that light up) awesome.
