hi, i have a 2005 panda 1248 multijet( dynamic) diesel. my insurance company ( age uk) are saying , it is a jtd. so a higher insurance group. is this correct ? quite a jump in insurance costs from my previous 2002 1.0 nissan micra. cheers guys.(y) steve.

The multijet and the JTD used essentially different technologies, but the terms have been used interchangeably to describe fiat Diesel engines.

A diesel will of course be more expensive to insure than the 1.0 litre micra you had, for one it will go a lot faster, also the old Micra was basically indestructible, you could drive them into a wall and a side from some scuffs and scrapes it would keep going and so not be worth a claim.

Hi,
If you wanted to try an alternative insurance then please feel free to drop me a line.
Regards,
Dan.

Insurance on my 100HP was less than for a 1.2 Dynamic. I'm getting on a bit but have not held car insurance for at least 7 years, so had no bonus to use.

I do have 14 years no claims on the bike (no bonuses on bikes) so my broker gave me the full 9 years protected. I'm a square peg so shopping around wasn't an option.
