I have a knocking noise that appears to eminate from the rear of the vehicle, strange though because it goes away after about 5 to 10 minutes of usage. New rear dampers where fitted last year so i doubt it's them. It does sound like someone is hitting under the car with a mallet.
The fact it goes away after a few minutes does sound like the shocks pumping themselves up.
After its rested awhile, reach around the wheel and try and wiggle the shock. Its tight but I can get my fat arms in there.
If that's okay support the car safely and push and pull the exhaust up and down and from side to side and try banging it with the palm of your hand

I'll definitely try that, thanks. The reason why i replaced the rear shocks was because the rubber around the upper bolts were perished. It did cure the knocking sound for a few months but like i said i'm now getting this slighly different sound. They were the Topline brand from shop4parts, also the rubber bushes on these new dampers are still fine, no movement.
