General Planning to buy 100HP

£5,000 - 08 reg, 45,000 miles, fresh MOT (rear shocks just changed), new tyres, 12 months Fiat warranty (useable at any dealer not just this one). Being serviced this week, picking up on Saturday :)

Btw black looks much better irl (less "vanny").

Enjoy your new car. Guess you compromised on colour to get what you wanted. I'm sure black looks awesome!

Think I'll have to do the same - compromise I mean........no skydome, take whichever colour the right car comes in.

Would love to see some pics once you've taken possession.

Cheers.

Seeing this one today guys & girls!

Must be one of the earliest ones. Only 20k miles.
Front and rear badges updated to red ones. Steering wheel badge still blue - imagine the cost of replacing the airbag prohibited changing that. Otherwise seems completely standard.

Dealer states in excellent condition.

Anything I need to be wary of with earlier models? Recalls or updates that should have been done?

Also slightly concerned about the very low mileage - about 3k a year, so will have done a lot of sitting around!

Any thoughts guys? Seeing it late morning.

Thanks!!

This sort of hyper low mileage car is hard to value - everything depends on condition & history. You'll be paying a phenomenal premium over a car with normal miles (see this link) & need to be sure you're gettting real value for the extra ££££. It's a 20k car but it's also a 6 yr old car; you need to work out which of these two descriptions most accurately fits it, so inspect very, very carefully & just walk away if you see anything you don't like the look of.

For me, the warning sign is the badge change; the kind of previous owner I'd have wanted it to have probably wouldn't have done such a thing out of choice. It could have been the result of a prang, so look more carefully than usual for any sign of accident repairs.

However, if it's a genuine one-owner car that's in the condition you'd expect for the mileage rather than the year, it could be worth paying the premium.

Remember that a service history is more than just stamps in a book; to have a proper fsh, the car must also have the receipts showing exactly what was done.

Based on time, it will need a cambelt change; evidence of that being done recently would show the car had been properly looked after; otherwise budget for doing that before driving it very far or very hard.

One word of warning - with a few more miles and another owner, it'll lose quite a bit of that low-mileage premium, so this is probably only worth buying if you plan on keeping it for a while.

Thanks for that. All good advice.

My gut is telling me slightly too old for the money.
Will have a look anyway, but it would have to be immaculate!

Then he'd need to knock a fair chunk off.

I do plan to keep for a while. Will let you know how I get on.

My Cinquecento Sporting only had around 26k on it when I got it - it would have been almost 7 years old at that point. A load of stuff had to be changed over the following 12-18 months, either out of a lack of use, or just coincidence... various seals, water pump, radiator etc.

The red hazards switch and release buttons on the seatbelts had faded, and the plastic mounts on the parcel shelf had gone from matte to gloss, as if sitting around for days in summer heat without any use (ie not being driven with the windows open so the driver wouldn't pass out, which would also cool the rest of the inside of the car) had an effect on them.

The badges could have faded a bit and been changed for that.

Well, just back. I'd say it was in good nick mechanically but far from immaculate.

It has just been serviced and the oil was very clear. All the levels looked good.

But, there was a chunk out of the rear bumper, well a fingernail sized chip, a few small scratches and three of the alloys were scraped, the front two quite badly.

Inside it seemed grubby and the gear stick was quite scratched at the top, suggesting a ring worn by the previous owner(s) (the 50,000 mile black 100HP at the same garage had an unmarked gearstick).

There were no stone chips on the front suggesting little exposure to A roads and motorways, so I suspect lots of very short runs.

I drove it and it seemed fine, pulled well and true and braked well too, although the tracking was slightly out.

Overall, probably £500 overpriced. The salesman agreed to do the cambelt, but said he would not be able to move much in price.

Not the car for me. The search resumes!

Thanks for the advice though chaps!

I was probably expecting too much out of a 5 1/2 year old car, especially as my Octavia is 2 years old and has been really looked after from new.

I'm just hoping to find a car that's been cherished and is in excellent condition...........

It will be out there, and I still have six weeks before I need to buy.

The other thing to comment on is that this is the first time I had driven a 100HP. It was a very short drive, and I was impressed. It felt solid for a small car, pulled well, although clearly not as strongly as my vRS, and has just increased my desire to get one. I did notice the bounce in the suspension, but think I can live with that.

Looking round the car, I was also impressed with the overall build quality, particularly when compared to my 1986 Panda 1000S !!

I kinda like the bounciness, for now at least :)
And yes they do pull very well, and the sport button does make a difference. Try exiting a roundabout in 2nd with and without, it gets rid of some of the flat spot. Can't believe people put the same engine and gearbox in 3/4 ton Cinquecentos and Seicentos

I still need to adjust the stereo a bit more (no sub (n) ) I'm sure there was a thread around here with the ideal settings.

The BlueTooth mic is meant to be around here somewhere, apparently?
No one can hear me.
Unless it's hidden underneath the fabric?

I also noticed there is a clip/cover missing when I looked up :bang:

Just emailed the dealer and I'll see what they say, apparently I've got some better warranty as the car is just under four year old when I got it.
Also, I just got it today from a Fiat dealer and they are meant to have done a full check and service.

Bluetooth mic is in front of the light IIRC. It's pretty obvious as to what it is really.

In respect of that 2006 car, I would say a grand over priced. I think for 5K you ought to be looking at a 2009 car.
