My 100HP has just been in for 3rd year service with usual filter and fluid changes. I was surprised that there was still no need for any of the pads to be replaced ? Service manager told me that they last an average of 36000 miles (with my car on 29700). Seeing that I do an average of 10000 per annum I s'pose it would be a good idea to get them sorted in six months time. Anyone had pads replaced as a matter of course during routine servicing ? Feedback gratefully received :)

I'm just starting my 3rd set at 73k on MJ so they do last, considering I have used it as a courier car it has not been driven in a mild manor either.

I just got a new set of pads and a new pair of discs for the front of my 1.1 active!!!! I was a bit surprised by the discs so asked to see them - OMG!!!!! The previous owner must have been less than careful on the brakes me thinks. I knew the discs weren't great but thought i would have got away with it, but having seen the discs (which are really badly scored) am relieved I put the car in for service early. My wallet isn't relieved tho!

EDIT: Car has 37,500 on the clock

I'm still on the original pads on our MJ at 46k and they'll last until 50k at least. And unlike some other reports, the discs are still shiny and smooth with just a trace of a ridge along the edge. :):) So it looks like I may as well renew front and rears at the same time.

It helps to offset the cost of tyres it wears out......:(

I don't think 37,500 is too bad. These days discs and pads have about the same life.

Just had my second service at 21K miles. Was advised front brakes are 70% worn. Looks like I may go through mine a tad quicker then.

I want a passenger ride with you one day :)

At my second service (bit late at 25k) I was told my front pads and discs only had 30% left.

Fiat, of course, quoted a wallet witheringly high price to change them, which I declined.

Slightly off-topic - have you chaps replaced your brakes with standard Fiat kit or gone elsewhere?
My 100HP was bought new in Feb 2009, so doesn't have the issues that the earlier cars seem to have had, from reading on here.
I'm perfectly happy with their feel and performance (never been on track), but wondered if anyone had upgraded to road/race pads? Or found cheaper kit up to the job?
