General Panda V Passat

It's not like you need a sharp eye to see the mess they made. The trick is to find all the things they did wrong. They couldn't even clean it without smearing polish over every bit of black plastic trim they could find.

It's hilarious really. The new Fiat badge they put on the back is the old round blue one, not the red one like the front. There is visible bare metal under the back which will make the corrosion warranty interesting.

The more you look, the more you find.

When it went away I expected they'd do all manner of clever and technical things with jigs and lasers and stuff, and it would come back and I wouldn't be able to tell it had been in a smash. Instead it looks like I tried to fix it myself.

PS. Yes they did move the bumper forwards to match the wing. In fact it's now the only thing that does line up with the wing...

PPS With hindsight I should have got they guy in the Passat to back up and take another run at it just to make sure it got written off.

I would most definitely reject that botch job and demand a new car.

That bodyshop seems to have done an amateur job.

Accept no bull and just demand a new replacement.

:yeahthat:

If it wasn't someone's pride and joy it was be hilarious. I do hope you just get a new car :)

Agreed.

All I can say is OMFG.

I thought this was a rear end shunt! Looks like there isn't a pannel they haven't tried to adjust. The dash vents line up  (only joking).

I'd be advising your insurance company that you want the car replaced with a like for like NEW one.

The work they've done is a mockery. That rear end / spare wheel well hasn't been done properly like you say, and that WON'T fair as well in another rear end shunt!

I'll give you a written purchase agreement of £500 for the car if you want documented value agreements for insurance company :ROFLMAO:

Let us know how you get on. Depending up what the outcome is I can see this going down the small claims court route unfortunatly.

Don't forget to record all your personal time etc to be able to claim from insurance! £35 PH plus admin fee's isn't unreasonable ;) :)

Jon.

Right. I'ts been inspected by the insurance co's engineer with the result that they're being made to fix it properly this time.
Panda won't be back 'till next week so either they're taking the time to do it right or they intend to have a lot of cups of tea.

Keep an eye open for PGTips delivering, from the state of your car so far I cannot see them getting it right

It's all a slightly surreal experience. The manager at PB Rolls said he wanted me to be 110% happy when they returned the car.
I take that to mean they'll be returning a 500 with a boot full of chocolate Hobnobs

This is a total nightmare for you.
It's so annoying, there you are, brand new pride and joy, Cock crashes into you, you get a motor returned never right ever again.

No compensation for the fact that the car is not as good as it was.
Plus, if when you come to sell it, a potential buyer has a good eye like you, they will walk away.
I would, I'm good a spotting accident repair, and it would be easy with your repairers handywork to spot it.

I think the insurers should give you an extra £1500 to go with the repair, then you could live with it.

Best of luck for tomorrow, but somehow I don't think you'll be smiling (n)

deeyup

I have found the thread to be very helpful when looking at Pandas at dealers, after looking at the photos it's been quite easy to spot the ones that have had a rear end shunt, and while the bolts on our front wing weren't quite as badly spannered as yours there is a slight sign that they've been out so again once you know what to look for quite easy to spot. Mind you, some of the paintwork on the cars at my local Fiat dealer is such a dreadful colour match you'd have to have awful eyesight not to spot the repair.

OK here we go. They made more of an effort this time.

Here's the back. Look at the top edge of the tailgate. It looks a bit low. I'll pop down to the Fiat dealer tomorrow to see what it should be like.

Here's the big one though. They've finally pulled the shell straight so the C pillar is back to being straight again. They've also put the doors, wing and bumper back where they should be.

Previously the C pillar window projected out at the back

Now it's back flush again.

They hoovered inside a bit.

Here's the offside rear door window. I'm sure it wasn't that scratched before.

So.
Better, but it's going back again.

Is there not a limit to attempts before you can reject it and ask for new? This has been going on a very long time and you have no doubt wasted a hell of a lot of time returning it this many times for it to still not be right...
