I have a Manual now, bought off E-bay, for the Panda. It explains the removal procedure for the Airbags. I was wondering if anyone on here had ever done this, as I need to remove mine for good. I would like to sell them afterwards, so was wondering if storage or transportation once disconnected would pose any problems??

Thanks in advance for any replies.

For storage and transportation purposes they should remain in a steel box/cage. They're classed as explosives and have to be stored accordingly.

Maybe I should stick em on E-bay as "Seller removes and takes them away"?? Dont fancy an explosion on my hands:eek::eek:

I took an Airbag out of a Volvo once for Dash replacement (Ex Police), and was very cautious. Saying that, it was off for about 8 hours and then refitted.

We use a gun cabinet for storing airbags. I would never recommend anyone who is untrained does anything with airbags.

Well if thats correct hes a moron.
Dont forget to inform your insurance company as removing safety equipment will effect any claim you have to make regarding personal injury in the event of an accident where an airbag would have reduced injuries.

Who's a moron?????

Before shouting your mouth off, perhaps you should consider asking why???

You're obviously not worth the time it would take to explain.

It's a track car and you don't really have a need for airbags if you've got a bucket seat and a six point harness and crash helmet etc.

When I used to race an RX8 they disabled the airbags or removed them.

He did say 'if thats correct' , like numanR I am also wondering why anyone would remove the airbags. If its for style/looks then I would also admit thats a rather silly idea but if its for racing then I can understand that.

Nigel....care to enlighten us:)

Just a thought..

Are you removing the seats complete or just taking out the airbags from the seats???

If your removing your seats awould you consider selling them??

Thanks,

Sam

I don't think its for racing, just trackdays I think from what the OP was saying.

Does anybody follow people's posts in this section?

If so you'd know Nigelr32 is converting his brand new 100hp into an Autotest / Hillclimb car and I imagine that's why he's removing the airbags and (see other thread) selling half the bits off?

Then again he could just be a moron

Nigel, would disconnecting the Airbag sensor disable it?

I imagine that failing that, disconnecting the battery may work....I expect the computer won't like it though!

:D

Hi Nigel, point taken,:bang:
if you are having this as a race car then apologies, I am not used to people buying new cars to play with on tracks.
I am however more used to people removing safety equipment for fitting sporty stuff, just to look pretty and if you read my post again I obviously was talking about road cars and insurance etc. It never ceases to amaze me how low airbags seem to be on some peoples priorities when maintaining cars, I have even diagnosed airbag faults for free to find out exactly how much repairs would cost to stop customers driving off without having it at least checked.

Apology accepted, and thanks for the PM.

I too am amazed at the number of people who do rediculous things to their cars!!

Do you realise how many members this forum has & posts per day?

Nigelr32 has posted several threads about this car and his plans and I thought anyone who visits regularly might have been aware that's all....

I suppose because I check the Panda(New) section most days/visits (as it's the most relevant to me!) I thought it was common knowledge....
