Hi everyone. I'm thinking about buying another Panda, as I had one three years ago which was less than perfect. But I do still miss it :(

The Panda I had was a 2005 Eleganza in silver. I loved it, but it didn't love me (Clutch problems, trim rattle, bolts falling out of seats etc.) Then it was damaged by some nutter in a car park (As I believe I spoke about on here) That was the final straw (as well as the awful dealer that I got lumbered with)

I now own a Hyundai Getz, which has been ten times worse than the Panda! I will be looking to trade this in within the next few months. I'm looking to get a 1.3 MJ Panda. Do these suffer from the same problems as the petrol version? (Such as weak clutch, machine gun noise from exhaust in the wet etc)

Please allay my fears. I NEED another Panda in my life

No machine gun noise from the exhaust (y)

I love my MJ - only problems have been minor (door locks, light stalk). Good car, will keep for long time...

Is there a lot of problems with the clutch on the MJ? It's just that I do a lot of town driving, so I'm up and down the 'box quite a bit.

The clutch on my first Panda lastest about 10,000 miles and the dealership refused to do anything about it.

Hi Specs 78

I have my MJ just over three years now. It's got almost 79,000 miles and honestly say it never let me down.

I had a problem with a fuel sensor about 18 months ago. Car did not stop - would not cross 40 MPH but did not stop. Fixed under warranty.

Last time I checked (about two weeks ago) it was giving me over 61 MPG. This is mixed driving.

I check it about once a month by the old fashioned method: Fill the tank and reset the trip meter = accurate MPG.

One of our daughters gets it most weekends and her friends can't believe it's a diesel. One friend, a BMW 530D owner is still talking about it's ability to get a move on when required:D

I can really recommend the MJ. Like Wee Smurf, I will be holding onto it for some time to come.

Stay safe,

BJ20

It's a shame Fiat think people who enjoy luxury also don't like diesel. Why can't we have a MJ Eleganza??? I'd never have had my 1.2 Eleganza if the MJ was available in this trim! :bang:

I have 24.5K miles of mainly city driving with no gear / clutch issues. I'd be up and down the gears quite a lot too.

First set of brake pads didn't last long (12K miles), but the second set are holding up quite well and I could get possibly double the mileage out of them. Maybe the first set were duff.

As BJ20 and Wee Smurf, My MJ has done 32k in a year of mixed driving as I'm a part time courier, no probs yet. First set of tyres lasted 27k, and I'm still on the 1 st set of pads, it is also rattle free and nothing has fallen off. For what it cost I'm well happy and will not sell it in a rush.

How is your drivers seat holding up Derv drinker? My Getz's drivers seat is knackered after 34,000 miles and Hyundai won't do anything about it.

I think my clutch "failed" in my old Eleganza after about 10,000 miles all told. When I took it into the dealer I just got the old "They're all like that, mate" line.

I really want another one but, as I'm a driver for "Meals on Wheels" cars just don't last long in my hands (a lot of "stop start" driving) The last two fiats I've had didn't last long at all (Punto 9 months from new, Panda one year from new) before I traded them in. The dealers were the main problem though. Although Hyundai haven't been much better. I've been to three different Hyundai dealers in two years!

What sort of price could I get a new MJ Panda (with aircon) for? Are there any good deals going about at the moment? What's the servicing costs on the MJ like? Thanks :)

My seat is fine, has not lost shape just getting a little grubby now. The clutch has been fine, most of the time I only dip it and not depress all the way down, wrong I know but every know and then I put it to the floor. Servicing costs 1st was £134 and the second £185, so no worse than others. I got forces discount on mine from a main dealer, SGM at Swanwick who have been exceptional so far. All Fiat dealers will do forces discount though most don't know about it, all they have to do is ring Fiat UK and get it approved, all that is required is that it is first registered in the forces name who's applying for the discount - as soon he gets the log book he can sell it, and there is no limit to how many he can purchase either. Fiat supersaver are doing MJ with air-con and metallic for £6800 at the mo, which is £200 less than I what I paid
