Hi mates!

Leaving work earlier I popped the 100HP into reverse to pull out of the space and just as I was releasing the clutch the car lurched backwards at an alarming rate!

Was using very little throttle and I'd hardly moved the clutch pedal off the carpet but the car just flew. I stopped sharply and tried to move back neutral but the lever was stuck and wouldn't move at all.

Shut the car off and it was stuck for a good few minutes and too quite a lot of cajoling to get it back into neutral. Hasn't happened again since I left, but that was only about a hour and I've only reversed a couple of times since.

Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this? Pretty concerning but I want to see if it will happen again before taking it to a dealer unless anyone has any advice.

Cheers!

When you stopped the car afterward, was it sitting against the gears? (if that makes any sense...) By this I mean if you park on a hill and let the car roll forward until the gears stop it, it's quite hard to then get it out of gear again.

Should come out ok with the clutch pressed in this situation, often with a little lurch forward as you press the pedal.

Other thing, check your clutch fluid reservoir.

I see what you're saying, it had been parked in neutral straight into reverse and then stopped so in theory yes it would have been sat against the gears. The last time I'd seen a gearbox like that was when the one in my old Brava seized and wouldn't come out of gear so mild panic set in.

Been out tonight with no problems but I will check the fluid reservoir in the morning.
