My Eleganza will be 3 in January and I'm still really pleased with her - so much so that I will definately get another - but when and what? The recurrant niggly fault that kept causing the "engine failure" message to come on seems to have been fixed this week - it was a throttle fault andnow I'm beginning to think that I'd be better off with a nice new car than having to stump up financially for repairs next year if there are any more problems.
Should I get a diesel - because I don't like forking out money for tax, insurance, fuel etc. Another Eleganza because they are nice and I like mine, or should I sucumb to the amazing attraction I had to the 100hp I saw in the showroom when I was waiting for mine to be fixed ? I'm a bit wary of using Supasaver as I'd have to sell mine on privately - can anyone recommend a dealer that might give me a good p. ex price?

In terms of a favourable trade-in.......and I'm not sure there ever is one........I was always told that the best time to visit a dealer was fairly late on in the day on the last Sunday of the month when the sales staff are keen to meet their sales targets.

You'll be able to spot them......they will probably be sweating and asking if they can help you with anything........ as if you've never been in a car showroom in your life.

Hope you get what you're after when the time comes......which I would say would be now - means you can avoid the MOT.(y)

Personaly if a car is going fine and the maintainance kept up to sctratch then why get rid of it ..all you are doing is giving someone else a very good buy ..I would keep it for at least two or three years more :)

Common sense has kicked in.... the eleganza is staying, I'll just have to keep away from the showroom at Wessex Fiat to avaoid temptation for a while.

Have you had any faults/problems with your Panda over the last 3 years

I thinking about getting one.

I traded in my 55 plate Eleganza in August. No problems,1 wiper blade, drivers side, 1 number plate bulb.
Thats it,nothing broke,fell off. Started 1st time,including being left out in -4 for 5 days in Shropshire,winter 05.
Splendid car. Replaced with a 100 HP , which is a different kettle of fish... :D

The only fault that "Higgle" has had is a recurrent cut out with the engine failure light coming on, that has now been rectified under warranty with new throttle bits and pieces and she is 100%. I did have a look at some other smallish cars last week but nothing is quite as lovely/cute/useful looking as the Panda and my teenaged sons are adamant that there is far more space and leg room in the Panda than the seemingly larger Micra that we had as a loan car. As a veteran of numerous Fiestas Clios and the odd BMW and Mercedes (in better times....) I stil think the Panda is the most fun car to own I have ever had.
