Hello all,

I bought a Fiat Panda Pop 1.2 (2012) for my daughter a few days ago. It was a bit of an impulsive buy, thats not normal for me at all.

I have a few questions and I hope that more experienced owners of this firm may be able to help.

I have been looking through the forum for the last couple of days but these questions seem not to be answered or they are not clear to me.

1. The gearbox is noisy in 1st gear, a little less in second and only slightly in 3rd. I changed the gearbox oil yesterday, and it did help a little but the noise is still there so it looks like I'll have to bite the bullet and buy a refurbished replacement.

Any advice on where to get one would be appreciated. I'm hoping to get it fully replaced for around £300 if possible.

2. There seems to be no clear resolution to remote cental locking. The car came with just one standard key (none flip version).

I want to buy a spare 3 button flip key off ebay. If I do that along with a new blade, a boot lock mechanism and a boot numberplate housing with built in microswitch what else do I need to get remote central locking working?

If that is not possible then a link to a aftermarket unit that is know to work with instructions for the correct model of car would be appreciated.

3. Confused about aux input. Lots of dead links and I'm not sure if our head unit is compatible. It's the one with the CD player.

Any info with working links appreciated.

The only one I found was to eBay item 284096878370. Is that the right one?

Hi and welcome to you both :)

If youve changed the oil already.. you are obviously 'hands on' : thumb:

Panda gearboxes are not known for being made of chocolate..

Puntos do.. and that tends to be 1 bearing

However Im not sure what gears it effects

Locking.. a tricky one

The older 169 panda didnt upgrade easily.. I dont think this does either..

Maybe compare how many lock mechanism (and door loom..) options there are..?

Fiatdalys site lists all the parts info :)

I'm definitely not afraid to get my hands dirty and have worked on every car I have ever owned.

Never worked on a Fiat before, but it all looks relatively easy servicing wise, and replacing the gearbox oil wasn't too bad either. It was just the cold this time of year that I hate.

I can't decide if its worth paying out for a fully reconditioned gearbox or getting one that has been tested as good or had its 1st bearing and seal replaced.

Any views? It does need doing and the cost is varying quite a lot so would welcome advice on where to go.
