Re: Haynes Manual

Haynes don't do a manual. Tap you registration in on their site and you get "Unfortunately we don't have a manual for your vehicle yet. "

I ended up buying a manual for an earlier version, to get the feel for how Fiat built similar. Else looking and asking on here.

Re: Haynes Manual

I have had the same issue, its the first car I've had that that doesn't have a Haynes manual.

Would a mk2 or a fiat 500 manual be a similar mechanically to the mk3 panda?

Engine wise with be 80% the same suspension and interior be quite different

Most modern cars don't tend to have workshop manuals these days
Manufacturers have moved to online only subscription services that can only be accessed be registered garages

Re: Haynes Manual

You don't need to access the heater matrix - that is the radiator full of hot water buried deep in the heater unit, and is clearly working as you have heat. What you need to remove are the two panels under the steering wheel so you can see the cable ends. i'll post a couple of photos... The right hand part of the panel is just clipped in (its pulls off to reach teh diagnostic socket that is behind it). grab the lower edge and pull towards you, hard! It feels like it will break, but is 'just' held by two strong spring clips. You'll then see two screws holding the larger, left part of the panel, Remove these and the panel pulls out (two more strong clips at the left end)

Hereís the photos...
- Position of hand to pull away first panel
- Torx T25 driver removing two screws
- pull hard and the left end unclips - will need to raise steering wheel to highest position too to let the top of panel pass the shroud of the steering column.
Now, turn the heater control from blue to red and back and you should see ( through the gap made by removing those panels) a white wheel turning, and also, lower down a white plastic lever moving up and down too. These are moving to two flaps that control the air to go through, or round, the heater matrix itself. Video (if it uploads) attempts to show this.
What do you see when you turn the control...?

Video didnít upload. Hereís a crudely labelled still (Hard to draw on a small photo on the phone!) The red arrows point to the wheel and lever, and the yellow arrows show how they should move when you turn the control.
Having now looked (for first time) in the car, unlikely the cables come off this end... but may have from the control. Take these panels off and have a look and tell us what you see. If *both* the wheel and the white lever below it donít move, then the cables come off the control knob. If one moves and one doesnít, time for more exploration It often seems that in a car factory they start with the heater and build everything else around it!

Re: Haynes Manual

I've removed the two panels under the steering wheel and I can see the white wheel and lower down a white plastic lever there is no movement in them when I turn the heater control from blue to red and back however I've found if I turn the white wheel quarter of a turn with my finger the heat coming from the vents turns from hot to ice cold ill try to put some photos on of what I've found

Re: Haynes Manual

Your right - the cable should be seated in a groove that goes riound the rim of the wheel. Yours has slipped out of that groove and is caught behind it. Iím away for a few days but if no on replies in the interim Iíll see if I can offer any suggestions.
Thanks steve gray thanked for this post
