The feature allows you to direct the car to your location. It car can cope with most static objects and people walking, but if you are daft enough to reverse it over a main road, the car wont be doing it's Green Cross Code. It's still down to the idiot with his thumb on the "dead-man's button".

It makes sense for parking into narrow spaces where the doors would not be able to open e.g. a typical UK garage or multi storey car park space. Taking it across a public space (as in you are a lazy git) is asking for trouble.

BMW are now using your phone as the keyless entry card. Summon mode would be very handy for stealing the car and parking it into a shipping container.
