Morning all,

Our nearside mirror glass fell out a couple of weeks ago and so I contacted my local dealer to order a replacement mirror glass. Our 1.2 Easy has heated electric mirrors which were of course a cost option.

When ordering, I made the point a couple of times to make sure it was definitely the glass for the heated mirrors and not just for the standard mirror.

Anyway - when I went to pick up the mirror glass, I opened the box and surprise, surprise - it was the wrong one.

However, having done some investigations, it turns out that it is actually impossible to order a heated mirror from the central inventory list that the dealers have; there are only two part numbers available, both of which are for standard nearside/offside mirrors.

The latest is that this has been raised to head office in Italy, and apparently they are going to have check their stocks to see whether they have any, or whether the ones being attributed to the UK part numbers are just wrong.

This does all sound a bit crazy, but my dealer actually popped the reg number of a 2011 yellow Panda Active into the system, and the part numbers came up for heated mirror glass for the 2009-2012 variants.

I will keep you all posted on how this progresses, but if you have heated electric mirrors and need to order replacement mirror glass, it appears that you are going to have difficulty!

An update for you...

Fiat Technical/Head Office (not sure who) has sent another wing mirror glass to my dealer...and it's the wrong one again!

So my dealer is going to have to do another internal stock check to see if there are any heated element mirror glass items available. Hopefully I will have some more news early next week.

I did suggest that the 500L may have the same wing mirrors as the Panda - they looked almost identical when I walked past one the other day, and images I've seen of the 500L interior seem to suggest it has the same interior switch. So maybe that is another avenue to investigate...

Are there any others who have definitely got heated electric mirrors in their Panda as opposed to just regular electric mirrors? Would be interested to hear from you!

Hi SU

Mine definitely has heated mirrors.

I know this for a fact as I had to pop them off and unplug them in the process of fitting the orange mirror covers :)slayer:)

[The glass is very thin, to the extent i was quite concerned that the force need to unclip them from the electric mounts can't have been far off the maximum the glass would stand before breaking...]

There is a small white sticker on the back of each glass which probably had a number on it. Not sure if that's where the order code is written? I did notice that the number on the back of the plastic mounting plate that is glued to the mirror carries the same code both sides 0170474440 - but this can't be an order code as the mirrors are handed.

I do hope you solve the mystery!

:)

Super Uwe - I've added an update to the thread you started in the 500L section and pm'd you the link but here it is too.

HAHA! beat me to it! I was just about to write the very same.Had to disconnect my heated mirror wires whilst fitting my orange mirror caps!

Thanks a lot for all of your input here people!(y)

Well...I'm pleased to hear that the 500L does have heated electric mirrors. Unless there is some really odd thing going on, they look identical to the ones in the new Panda, so I think ordering 500L heated mirror glass might be the way forward....it's another option anyway!
4x4Panda - you're right, the part number is indeed on the back of the glass panel. Sadly I ditched the original broken glass so I don't have it to hand. But if my dealer doesn't have any luck, I know for a fact that they have got 4x4's out on the forecourt, so I will suggest that they look at the nearside mirror and jot down the part number.

Many, many thanks again for your help. Once again FF delivers the goods - about time I made a donation to be honest!:D

OK then...we finally have a part number for the heated mirror glass. It's 71775773. Wahey!

However - there are none left in stock anywhere! Fiat in Italy need to get some ordered from their supplier and then get them sent over to the UK, so it looks like I will have to wait until early/mid December before they arrive.

The guy who I have been dealing with at Vospers in Exeter has been first class actually. But once it's all sorted I will be writing to Customer Services to tell them, it really shouldn't be this hard for the dealer/myself to get the right part.

Hopefully none of you Panda people with heated wing mirrors will smash your glass in the meantime!:D

Hi SU
is there a separate part number for the left and right hand sides?

Hi 4x4Panda,

I don't have details regarding the other, but from memory when the dealer tried to order the regular one, there is one digit difference.

So I guess the other part number will either be 71775772 or 71775774. But not 100% certain on that!

Hooray! The heated wing mirror is finally in, but....

Boooo! It's the wrong side; they've only gone and sent the driver's side one.

So my dealer has ordered both parts now so that they definitely won't send the wrong one. Hooray again!

Now to wait until next week. Can you tell it is nearly pantomime season here in the UK?

One can't help thinking that they have ordered 'Mirror glass passenger side' which of course in Italy is the equivalent of our drivers side.......

Just a suspicion like....

OK...I finally have the heated mirror glass!:D

The part number for the passenger side glass (i.e. for right-hand drive cars in the UK) is 71775772.

And the part number for the driver's side glass is 71775773.

So looks like the last delay was down to the wrong one being ordered, but I'm not 100% who is to blame for that. Truth be told, I don't really care!:)

Thread bump. Are these easy enough to fit and will the proper wiring loom already be there?

After discussions on the Fiat Panda UK Facebook page me and a few others who have a 2023 Panda Cross have noticed heated mirrors are omitted from the standard spec.

Wing mirror glass usually just pops in and out without too much hassle you just need to be careful not to put too much pressure on one spot and break the glass

The 2023 car not having heated mirrors is highly likely to be down to the chip shortage or cost cutting either way it is unlikely that the wiring or the computers of the car support the heated mirrors. Easiest way to know if to pop the glass out of one and see if the wiring is there, but I suspect it won’t be. If you do find wires for the heated mirrors then you’d need to connect a meter to them and see if you get any power to them again I’d suspect even if the wires are physically present I don’t suspect they’re connected to anything at the other end

Pretty sure my 2023 Panda 4x4 TA was supposed to have heated mirrors and, I think a rear fog light, definitely no rear fog light and not sure if the mirrors are actually heated either?

I also never received a proper car owners handbook just a quick start guide and other stuff but no full size handbook.

Couldn't be bother contacting the dealer they weren't exactly customer friendly.

Cheers Andy, I'll have a look. Mine has heated front windscreen so I'm hoping it may have wiring

Aha. A silver pigs cloud in my silk ear purse then.. I ordered heated mirrors and it was delivered without. I feel less hard done by. I very strongly suspect going to S4P or motor parts direct would get you what you need off the shelf though and at a lot less money.
Thanks for the pre warning to other owners though.
