Hi,

As some of you know we are preparing a 2WD panda for a charity rally across morocco.
One of the most important things in our to do list is the sump guard :bang:. And I was hoping to make use of your experience.:worship:

We don't know if we should be adventurous and design it ourselves, figuring out where our mounting points would be etc etc  Any advice?

Or if we should go all out, and buy the panda 4x4 substructure, like the one they use in the wheeler dealers episode to make their sump guard. I've seen some one ebay for around £70
Has anyone used this before on a 2WD car?
Is it a straight out of the box bolt on type of thing? or would it require some mods to fit?
It would make our life a lot easier, as we do not have any welding experience or equipment, nor a lot of time to go through our huuuuge to do list.

Thanks in advance

P.S. You can now follow us on FB.

A 4x4 guard could be fitted, but it will require the addition of the mounting plates to the bulkhead cross member and tie rod mounts. These are welded on originally on a 4x4 and that would be the easiest method of adding them to a 2WD car, but I'm sure another method could be devised if required.

I'm sure some photos of the original mounts could be found if you look in the various 4x4 threads on the forum.

Thanks for the answer, just to make sure I've attached a pic of the structure thingy.
Would this require the modification of the cross member etc?

Hi,
2WD don't have the rear mounting points so they would have to be fabricated and welded on to the cros member

Or you could do like here, and bolt it down to lower arm mounting bracket with some "L" brackets - won't give that much protection any more.

Next think is 2WD don't have the front mounting points on the radius rod front mount , this would need to be fabricated as well.

4x4 mounts for the sumpguard, and my modded sumpguard.

PS:
someone's idea of fixing 4x4 sumpguard to the 4x2 car, not the best one, not the worst, just simple "bolts through the metal" at the back, and some metal welded at the front. From panda raid member car from Spain.
