I also have to say i'm not that excited about blogs and based on the poll which shows how stubborn people are at wandering the forum I suspect they wouldn't be that well used.

What do you think?

thats what was said about auction watch an members motors, but now there loads of members pandas in members motors, an auction watch has more panda stuff than any thing else.

now when lurkers look at the forum and look in members motors they can see we not all about new an modified cars but also the classics too, so they will be more likely to sign up :)

Unless there were more than 4 concurently updated MM threads, you are now better off anyway as they are shown along the top (with a nice photo) :)

The customising is a nice idea, but it has to be designed so that even if a user wants all the boxes, it won't ruin the design.

Blogs really are the way forward (and the updated version even allows you to move posts to forum entries, so could be setup rather quickly). It's really all down to the integration method.

I think you have to consider how people use the webpage aswell.

I check Bravo/Brava section costantly
Leassure Lounge quite a lot.
Auction watch and Spotted rarely.
Member Motors never. I only get there through links in someones sig.
Garage sometimes from the avatar link but the lack of authorisations stops people updating it i think.
Cento section sometimes because they are always upto something cool.

I have to admit that's sort of how I use the site too. Though the new mm and classfied bars are nice, I think my brain treats them like banner ads and I see past them and rarely click them. The only thing I look at with out fail are the forum posts. Which is why I thought a new tag ion the main forum could work. All this chat about blogs, it would have to be really intigrated with the forum threads for it to be used, and I do wonder, is a thread not kind of like a blog anyway... Could the (build/project) blogs and normal threads appear grouped together in the main forum?

All the blog bugs? Great.

IE8.

Usually when I make a long post to the forum I have to log in again as I'm timed out. It doesn't bother me as it remembers everything I've written and logs me in normally.

However, in this instance, I spent two hours composing the blog entry in one window, while being logged in in another window so I could easily jump between them cutting and pasting links. If the forum software realises I'm logged in anyway, why not let me carry on instead of insisting I press "back" and refreshing the page? Pressing back just took me back to a blank log entry page. No use whatsoever.

For now I'll just use the forum as I always have. I've been completely put off using the blogs by this.

I didn't realise it was a bug.

I was extremely pissed off for doing all that work for nothing.

I'm not a l33t forum user or programmer so I'll just use the forum as I always have. If I get grief for it I'll just stop using it.

No blogs for me. Admins/mods, whatever, please feel free to delete my blog or even my membership if you feel so inclined.

and again we get the teddy out the pram.honestly all i see in this thread is negativity from many members

that's not exactly fair, he's tried to use the part of the forum that he's been told to - wasted a good few hours, and then got annoyed by it - then been antagonised by the mods

so rather than report a bug you post a spam blog.well done.................

^ that didn't really help did it.

Including yourself.

Custard, I don't usually reply to comments that are obviously intended to be inflammatory but I've been and picked my teddy up. I don't have the patience of a saint, sorry.

Thanks for the support from the regular forum members. (y)

Now, what's happened is that I have wasted a good few hours of my time trying to help with finding a solution to the question of where we put posts about projects and rebuilds etc, having been told by the mods that we can't put them in the main Panda Classic section. Two approaches have been mooted: either blogs, which already exist as part of the forum, or create new sub-forums specifically for builds/projects etc. I created a new blog today to try the blog approach and had the misfortune to come up against what Dave has described as "all the blog bugs". OK, maybe not all of them, but certainly an infuriating one. Pardon me for not knowing about them but it was extremely frustrating to have all my work just disappear. I should have walked away from it and calmed down; easy to say in hindsight. My subsequent blog entry at the time was just blowing off steam. I did at least have the decency to censor myself for the benefit of the more easily shocked people who may have read it.

I know we haven't been told we HAVE to use the blogs, I just thought I'd be the first to do it and hopefully show it as a successful or otherwise means to post about projects. As stated, my experience has now put me off the idea.

I do take exception to being jumped on by people who are quick to judge. Try doing something you think is worthwhile for a couple of hours only to find it's been a complete waste of time and then have people pour scorn all over it and see how you feel about it.

:bang: :bang: :bang:

That wasn't the problem Dave. I'm aware of the time-out feature. The problem came because the forum software recognised that I'd signed in in a different window to the one I was working in. It won't happen again because from now on, I'll just be posting normally.

I'm not arguing about it any more. I'll just carry on as before.
