Good evening, have just joined the forum. Have recently got a Fiat 500c. Last weekend hit pot hole - puncture, new tyre fitted, tyre pressure warning light went out. Great. This morning driving to work 'tyre pressure warning light' came on. After 14 hr shift, tried on way home to get tyres checked. 3rd garage had a working tyre pressure machine. Have done all tyres to correct pressure, but 'tyre pressure' warning light still on. Have read & reread handbook, not helpful, probably me not understanding about cars! Tried menu button on dash, no option to reset. Any ideas please? Thank you.:)

From my experience if the tyres are warm you can't reset once all pressures checked. It let me reset the following morning. Suspect they are all like this. Visit to the dealer if you don't have any luck I'd have thought.

I seem to remember from somewhere that if you overinflate them, then drive around a bit- the light should go off. Then you adjust the pressure to the correct level. That way you 'reset' it... I might be wrong here though as I can't exactly remember where or when I read that...

I'm guessing the TPMS in the 500 is an indirect system, as fitted to my 500X. This doesn't measure pressures directly, but derives any change in pressure by differences in wheel rotation speed, measured by the ABS sensors. It's quite sensitive - mine came on when I swapped tyres front to rear, due to the different wear and hence rolling radius.

The handbook should describe how to reset it, mine did, and included examples of what could cause it to trigger, including swapping tyres! Having reset mine, it has not recurred, so hopefully yours will be the same once reset.

Oh, and I've found that Halford pressure/tread depth guage works well, costs about £10 I think.

I think the op's problem is that she can't reset the warning light. My 500 never had the TPMS so I don't know how it's done. No point in me quoting from my 500X manual as the process is almost certainly different.

My 500 does this when I change between winter and summer tyres, never at the time always a few hours later and the pressures are always correct.

The reset is there in the menu, can't remember the sequence but it's not hidden and quite obvious.
