Has anyone got a picture of the location of this?

I've bled the system with and eazi bleed and one way valve at the slave but there is still air in the clutch system somewhere. So going to try here also.

Trawled the forumbut have yet to locate it.

Thanks

Is that it in the attached picture, circled in yellow?

Man,I'm having serious issues here and would be greatful if anyone could chip in an opinion or two.

I've now put a litre of Dot4 through the system. Bled at the bulkhead nipple and the slave. I'm getting clean fluid out. However I can't seem to get enough pressure in the system.

If I leave my eazibleed on the resevoir and pressurised I can get gears. But remove it and there isn't enough pressure in the system to release the clutch fully. Can't think why this is and really needed my car back this weekend. :(

If the master and slave cylinder are operating fully then its got to be air in the system. I know its a pain but keep on bleeding it. When I went to get mine back from the garage I couldn't get any gears at all. That was worse than when I put the car in for repair!! Anyway, they had another couple of goes at bleeding it and eventually it worked and has since.
Cheers Jim

Thanks Jim. Had a real nightmare with this. No air in the clutch but no gears. Then got it jammed in reverse, then broke the gearstick in a rage trying to free it. :bang:

Called the AA and stood there looking sheepish. He reckoned the clutch pressure was good, but maybe the master cylinder is worn despite new internals. He also reckoned that the gear problem is down to the cables and not clutch. I've got lots of things to pull to peices over the coming weeks..

Well if you have replaced all the internals on the master I would rule that out unless the bore is scored and leaking fluid. How many miles has it done? Another post mentioned that the spring can become worn and compressed as opposed to broken but as above that would be ruled out if its a new spring. It is a real pain considering it should be simple, but thats what makes working on cars so much fun:(. Oh! and I have spent many hours lying underneath them, don't give up.
Cheers Jim

Is the feed pipe from the reservoir to the master cylinder metal or rubber? If it's rubber, you could temporarily clamp it, jam the clutch release arm with a block of wood (so that the slave cylinder can't move) and then carefully try the clutch pedal to see if the master cylinder is generating pressure. If the m/cyl is ok and you push too hard, it may pop the feed pipe off which will make a mess.

That will help confirm if the AA man was right. If my memory serves me well, the master cylinder body is plastic, so it won't have an infinite life.

A new master and slave cylinder don't cost a great deal (and new ones come up on ebay for even less money). As you no doubt already know, it's replacing the master cylinder in its' entirity that's a pig. The slave is pretty straightforward to replace

Thanks guys. Looks like I'm going to be doing a lot of work over christmas. I'm sure I recall threads about gear cables sticking and something on the gearstick breaking and needing welding. So I'll be doing a lot of forum searching :D
Hopefully I won't have to replace the master but I'll see how it goes. Gearstick>cables>slave first methinks. On the upside looks like the clutch still has life in it.

...
What broke exactly Snoo?
Occasionally, when I first got mine, the gearstick would come off in my hand when going from 1st to 2nd (only the gaiter kept it from coming away completely).
I just banged it back on each time, and It's not happened lately.
Anyone else had that happen?

Sorry, just got over to my parents to look again.
It's snapped at the bracket to the upper cable (see picture). The 2 parts circled should be attached!

Not sure on my chances of welding it at the mo. May have to source another stick. Does the gear knob pull off or screw?
