Re: 4th time lucky*

Well what have you been up to?

I've gone & bled the clutch with a Gunsons easy bleed on the reservoir. First I opened the bleed nipple then tried just pulling the pipe slightly out of the slave cylinder once removing the hairpin. Lots of fluid! No visible bubbles but the fluid was the colour of cola. Also checked the gaitor on the master for signs of a leak - none present. Had a quick try back & forth on the drive and it feels the same so more investigation needed.

Thought I'd have a quick look over the AC. Button lights uo on the dash but the clutch didn't engage under bonnet. Thought I'd check the obvious fuse no.9, 15A, blown!

Retry stabbing the button, clutch still not engaging.
Should plug in diagnostics to see if it's got a low pressure fault.

So very normal Fiat proceedings - lots of tinkering, no progress!

RE: Clutch - if the hydraulics are checking out ok (cola aside) it sounds to me like the pressure plate fingers are worn. Engine off, is it hard to select first and second, whether or not you press the clutch pedal down?

If the clutch is goosed, I've been looking at a better fix recently, in terms of fitting a beefed up unit. I think there may be options in that respect but I'll need to buy one to find out if it's viable.

Re: 4th time lucky*

Procrastinating on black bess this afternoon I thought I'd take a butchers at the cabin filter. Came out sopping wet. Hmm...

Turns out the whole scuttle was 4 inches deep in water!
Found the drain pipe and upon manipulating it sprang a leak:

So I took the hose off entirely and it positively gushed about a gallon of rainwater! Then jacked up the offside to encourage some more out. Look at the puddle!

Anywho the fish tail thing at the base of the hose was blocked solid with compost or something. Gave it a good fiddle with a finger and I got another squirt.

Separated the lens with a stanley knife. Surprisingly easy like someone had done it before.
Masked them and sprayed them. Ideally should have used some chrome spray or whatever.

Anywhere hot and sunny (with no road salt) is good for second hand cars, the only problem is the price, in Portugal Multipla's are really expensive for their year (I saw 03 and 04's for sale at 5x the English price). But the bonus is they are not rusty.

Clutching at straws ...

Going to attempt a third clutch change on a multipla.

Will be slower progress this time as this isn't my daily driver so the enthusiasm levels will be low.

Wish me luck!

Re: 4th time lucky*

Nice to see people out there saving multi's - Ive been so tempted to get a multi of late but every time i go see one all the interior is so mullered I don't think I could live with it. I don't mind tidying up a messy car but i just can't find one that clearly hasnt had gravel filled kids boots scraped all over the dash and everywhere and won't ever look nice without endless replacement trim which i assume is pretty hard to find in good condition.

Guess it's a worn pressure plate causing a low clutch pedal. Irritatingly I can't find my large torx bits for the clutch.
