Grande Punto My Grey Grande (Italian Stallion) modified lowered

Introduction

I have had my car for over a year and a half now and have still not got round to creating a build thread!!! (Terrible I know!)

Here is what it looked like when I 1st got it :)

It wasn't long before I got some inspiration from the forum and decided to go with the carbon vinyl on the front bumper/ grill :)

I did vinyl the bottom part of the bumper as well underneath the lower grill but the cat pissed on it and it went grey :( lol

The next change that came along would be the blue interior footwell lights, pedals, punto stickers and new wheel trims. (sorry for the poor quality photo's!)

Very blue! lol (sunbed style!) :)

My pedals (They kept slipping off so I eventually got rid of them :( )

This is a photo of me and a friend in his modified civic (b16 EJ) very nice build and completely modified and very fast!
You can see my custom fiat badges on this photo (not well but...) I scraped the red off and painted them black with silver fiat lettering :)

I up-rated the suspension to Abarth springs which I was miss-informed on when I was told it would lower the car 40mm!!! the difference wasn't even noticeable! although the handling improved no-end!!!

I left my car like that for quite a while... Until... I vinyl'd the roof gloss black, tinted the side repeaters and got a black FK debadged grill. (I know it doesn't look nice in this photo but hey ho... it's on it's way to well... hopefully perfection :) p.s. excuse the scenery around my car... House is still being built so it's a building site :)

Yeah... :)

Anyway onwards!!!

My car has been like that for months until... Last Saturday! :)
I got a brilliant deal on my coilovers (FK Street AK) from Prolex UK and a set of 5 BMW E30 alloys which I refurbished with all center caps.

All fitted to the car last saturday and it's looking good if I say so myself :)

Still some arch gap!!! :)

Need to get the arches rolled or a camber kit as the wheels have some poke... Looks good but It means that the real have a chance of hitting the arch and shredding when I go over a large bump quickly!!! NOT GOOD!!!

The alloys are 15" original BBS and I think they look good. I have seen a post somewhere on here about people thinking that the grande is best suited to 16" or above and that 15" look bad... I disagree as In my opinion these 15's look nice :) what do you think?

Anyway... Back to the low's!!!

More low's

only 8cm clearance!!!

So what do you guy's think??? Any idea's on more mod's? I wanted to open the headlights to paint the inside black but after searching around I found out it's pretty much impossible unless you want to mess up your lights. I just can't take that risk! :(

So it will continue :)
I think you're right, 15's do work :) if the car's low enough.
Are you the guy that bought the abarth springs off me? If so I never said they lowered 40mm :p
Personally I don't like the stripes at the bottom or the wheels but it's a big improvement
I think vinlying spoiler would be a good idea... but you'd have to remember to do the top of the boot otherwise you'll have a piece between the spoiler and roof which is still grey :p

I doubt it was you I bought them off... I bought them off Ebay a while ago :)

Yeah I will have to vinyl the top of the boot :)

Most people on here don't like the stripes so I think i'll remove them :)

Update:

Went down to Bukky's car breakers yard and got some boot struts from an old punto Mk2. Going to try Ryaaan idea, follow his guide and make some bonnet lifters :)

Also I will put a pic or 2 up of the steering wheel later today.

P.s. My steering wheel is lopsided so how do I remove it? Just pull the front of the steering wheel off and unbolt?

What do you mean lopsided? The wheel is not straight when you're driving straight? This will be the tracking/4 wheel alignment of the car. Seeing as you have lowered it quite drastically, this puts the alignment out, did you get it done after you fitted your coilovers?

Yes the wheel isn't straight when driving straight. I didn't get the tracking adjusted after fitting the coilovers but it has been like this for over a year lol. Just haven't got round to doing it . I 1st noticed it when I drove the car back from having new front tires on last December. Wasn't sure If it was the tracking alone or partly to do with wheel alignment aswell .

Depends where you go, a full professional geo alignment cost me 62 + vat and tat included camber etc on my old mk2 on collies, normal 4 wheel is about £30

Ok cheers (y)

Do you or anyone else know how to get camber on the GP's? I've searched high and low and all I can find is that the front wheels can be cambered by using corsa d camber kit/ bolts but the rears don't work...

I was also going to roll the arches but realised that the bumpers are part of the arches and are plastic therefore could not be rolled. (my alloys are et24 and therefore they have a little poke and they look like they could potentially if I had a very big hit slam into my arches...) (n) Just looking for a way of preventing this as much as possible.

Nah I don't sorry, my coilovers had camber adjustment built in so I didn't need and kit :)

Lucky :)

I have FK AK Street coilovers so front coilovers and rear lowering springs with adjusters. I can adjust the camber slightly at the front but not at the rear where it is needed :( Although just lowering the car has given it a little camber :p

Nice little motor nice to see someone that is as daring with lows as I am haha! Fk AK streets with rears without adjusters and front wound all the way down by any chance?

Thanks :) There needs to be more like us :D I was thinking about being more daring and removing the helpers and winding the coilovers up (or cutting the heplers a little as they don't really matter)

And yes! I wonder how you knew??? :p

I used to run no helpers and it sat so nice but hard to drive anywhere! Even flat roads felt like a challenge somehow!

I know what you mean! The rear of my car is slightly lower than the front  hence the reason why I was thinking about running cut or no helper springs just to level it off :) I would higher it but I like the low's too much!!! :D

I was going along a road at 60 both today and yesterday and it was quite bumpy and the car lifted so much that when it dropped the springs compressed so much that it slammed itself on the ground! Definitely need a skid plate!:slayer:

Those wheels are fantastic, and your stance is already looking good!

Cheers :) When I get home I'll get the wheels off and see if I can adjust my coilies any more to get more camber and also run without or with cut helpers :)

Nice Stilo btw :) Have you done anymore to it since your last post on your car thread?

On another completely off topic note... got a new addition to the family :)... Mazda cx5 Sport Nav 180bhp 2.2 tdi :) Gonna be fun to drive! :D

I was really hoping to have coilies for it by now, but i'm looking at £400 plus for the cheapest!

Just doing small things atm, like spraying the black plastics satin etc

Nice but Ouch that's expensive for the cheapest set... I just had a look myself to see I'f I could find anything lower price quickly... i see what you mean!!!
