I collected the Marea JTD 110 Elx on a 51 plate today and god it pulls well. The overall condition of the vehicle is great. What I have noticed is it wanders like a snake on the motorway on several occassions. It is because the anti roll bushes are out? It feels like I need to counter correct the steering on several occassions to maintain stability at high speeds. At speed below 60 mph, it behaves totally normal. Please guys, help me with this motoring dilemma. Thank you all.

mines been doing this but i notice it more at lower speeds.

i've put it down to my bushes being nackered but i guess i will have to wait and see.

i also discovered a bold inner tyre today so thats being replaced tomorrow.

Prolly needs new lower wishbones. May as well do the roll bar while you are there. It's not a big deal. Fiats seem prone to this
Oh , check tyre pressures and tracking first!

Hi

Think the tram lines in the motorway road surface are more to blame sometimes, have a close look @ road surface, it can be quite shocking in the inside lane sometimes!!

steering arm bushes are not expensive anyway

Good Luck and enjoy

Andy

Almost certain lower arms.

Does it pull to one side when accelerating and dive to the other under braking? If so I can identify which arm is worst.

If not then either both arm bushes are as bad as each other - or the track rod ends are suspect.

Hi,

Just bought a Marea Weekend TD and got this type of problem.

When I accelerate hard, the car pulls to the left, and if I then lift, it pulls back to the right. What would cause this?

Thanks

PS. It's fine under braking.

BTW, it's a 98(S) Weekend TD75 SX.

Any help would be much appreciated as it's going into the garage tomorrow for a cam-belt change and I'm going to get them to have a look at it.

I've also noticed that there's a 'thud' noise when I go over a bump or pothole, particularly from the front-right but also to a lesser extent from the front-left.

From what I've read on the forums this could be a lower-arm bush, probably the right, that needs replacing. Does that sound right?

I work in West Norwood (South London) and I got the details of the garage in Clapham (Marelli?) from this forum and just wondered if they were the best to take it to or if anyone can suggest somewhere else better nearby, or in the Gravesend/North West Kent area?

Thanks for all the info on the forum so far, it's been really helpful. :) (y)

Sounds like the right hand, lower arm bush is failing. Basically as you accelerate the wheel pulls and due to worn bushes the arm moves forward slightly, turning the car slightly left. I would replace both sides though as if one is worn - the other is probably not far behind.

My JTD Weekend wandered all over the place at speed but was transformed after tracking/alignment done. Also new front tyres helped.
Not as stable as my Xantia TD estate but much more fun to drive.

Yes, forgot to mention, after replacing the arms get the tracking checked. 4 wheel alignment should result in all 4 wheels more or less going in the same direction, and even if the rear axle isn't going forwards then they can at least align the front to head in the same direction!

Agree; definitely the lower wishbones; pair going on ebay at a good price recently might be still there; suggest do both plus track rod ends and anti-roll bar/bushes then get a full horizontaql and vertical wheel alignment........
