Hi, everyone

i'm new on this forum, i need any help i can get from you

i own a Fiat Marea Weekend and i noticed that the passenger airbag light is red (looks like a seated person with a balloon in front, i guess is the passenger airbag light). A friend suggested that the passenger airbag might be switched off.

Does anyone know how to switch on this airbag. i don't have a user manual and the previous owner has no idea about this issue.

There is no switch for the airbag system. The red light on the dash means there is a fault. Only way to find out what is to have all the errors for the system reset, then drive the car until the light comes back on. Then get it back into the garage to have the fault diagnosed as quickly as you can.

Hopefully it will be a poor connection - often is just above the glovebox.

There is no switch for the passenger airbag on these models. Most Marea do not have a passenger airbag. They really do suit it though as the dash flows across better.

but mine does have four airbags, two in front and two on the side of the seats. furthermore, the dash, right in front of the passenger, has the "airbag" inscription.

They can be bought of EBAY - mine came from there for about £6. Its' only 1 cd so postage shouldn't be an issue.

check to see if there is a small keyswitch under the fuse cover under the dashboard. Its unlikely its there, but it could have been fitted to some models. If its not there, there is probably a fault with the airbag wiring connectors. you need to get a diagnostic done on the airbag, check and repair or replace the connectors if they are intermittent, clear the faults and hopefully that should be it. If you cant find a FIAT dealership with diagnostics, any garage with good diagnostic equipment should be able to do this..

To activate the passenger airbag you need to sit in the passenger seat. It has a presence sensor inside. You get off, the airbag turns off.

You have a airbag fault.
