General standard marea sound system

The Marea has 5x7" speakers as standard, with some tweeters on the dash. Standard speakers are fairly low quality.

I've stuck some decent aftermarket 5x7"s in and it's ok - the Marea is a fairly quiet veehickle, and I don't usually have it turned up to full moo anyway. A sub in the (ample) boot would make it a bit better, but that's not really my bag, baby.

oh - am running a Pioneer MP3 player instead of the standard unit. Biggest problem with taking it out is that you don't have a clock any more!

If you can fudge the 6x9"s in the rear shelf, then keep 'em - for the rear I'm not sure what the Weekend setup is though (apart from starting on a Friday evening and finishing on Monday morning before anyone starts... )

Dont you have a clock on your HU?

hello everyone,

I just got my 2000/01 1.9 JTD Marea Weekend. Wondering what brand of CD-Changer can work with the HU. I seen someone manage to hook up with a Sony CD changer. If our original HU made by Sony?

Any infomation will be appreciated.

Thank you.

The Standard head units are made by Grundig.
Grundig CD changers come up quite alot on eBay for a reasonable price and if you're lucky your car may even have the cable as standard.
There are several threads on here relating to this matter.
Happy searching.

Hi,

I'm recent Marea 1.6 ELX owner.
Bought it on Monday.
It's GREAT!
My question is what is the tweeter (in the dashboard) size and how do I replace them?
Thanks

Milosh

hello guys,

mine HU is AH182 H2 and i am trying to figure out how to set the unit auto on/off using the ignition key. looks like is it different than 185 model.

anyone know how to do so or there is no such function?

thks.

Problem with the Weekend is the speakers are sooooo far away in the back you really need to replace them with something able to project into the front without distorting.

Or..

Remove the roll-up parcel shelf and fit some home speakers. :D My dad's kit car (Rickman Space Ranger) could fit a pair end to end across the rear footwell! Boy was that loud and that didn't use an amp!

i am now looking to fit some 5x7's in the front.

welcome to the forum! enjoy your stay (y)

if your going to do that you might need to upgrade the rears other wise you wont be able to hear them, i've had trouble balencing them it still sounds a little faded and thats with the standard speakers all around

best thing to do is make a new shelf out of M.D.F. put a pair of 6x9's on it and a 1200 W sub in the centre.sounds pretty good.
