Has anyone else had a problem with their sump leaking?
Had my 2000 Marea Weekend 1.6 in for an oil/filter change at Kwik Fit. When they went to undo the sump plug, the weld around the sumpl plug/thread assembly (on the sump) started to dribble oil. It was bubbling nicely with rust. They stopped there, and suggested the whole sump was replaced and said it was a common problem with Fiat's.
Its getting replaced as we speak, but it seemed a pretty obscure failure to me. They may galvinise their bodyshells these days, but check your sumps!

Just had a look at my sump, S**T!!! it's well gone.

Got a new one on order for £58 and my local garage reckons 1 hour tops to replace, though it could be quicker as it isn't the first one he's had to do.He didn't mention any over marea models, but punto's, brava and bravo's were regular clients for sump renewal.

I live near the Scunthorpe steel works and a load of s**t gets pumped into the air, the local idea is that this is what helps to corrode it away.

As George says, check those sumps!!!

Regards

Jeff
