Shared blocks...

I have recently purchased my dream car X1/9 and it looks like she's going to turn into a nightmare. Both upper and lower engine mounts have broken from the block and basically the passengers side of my engine is held by a single bolt instead of three.

I also own a Punto 90 Sporting that has a virtually identical engine but with modern wizz bangary that for the amount of faffing about the extra 2bhp (on paper) wouldn't be worth stripping a perfectly good car with eleven months MOT for.

So is the 128, X1/9, Punto 90 block used in other models?

I'm hoping a nice 16V Punto HGT/Bravo hlx.

Re: Shared blocks...

I think it's the same as the stilo 1.6 16v, possibly Maria? The water pump is easy to spot at the rear left of the engine in fwd fitment. Interesting post here

Seems the snail engine mount won't fit the 16v without re-routing the cam belt?
Must be about 110 Bhp?

If this is the case a 16V head should fit an 8V block. Bike carb's and pointless dizzy should hoik the output a bit.
