parked in the same place i usally do for college, on this grass verge along with 20 other people, got 2 things stuck on my window  first was a warning saying if i didn't move i'd get a ticket, second was a ticket!!!!! this was from the police too! if i had saw it i would have moved but it would have been obvious i hadnt read the wanring because it was in a envelope on my window!

heres a link because the gallerys down
the ticket + warning!

our uni are the same.

they now charge pay and display at usual town centre prices.
all previous years they have made us pay £40 to park in any uni carpark for anytime for the whole year and there was barriers to stop scum getting in.

now theres less security and say I go to one lecture nad back thats just into 1.something hours so £1. like today I have 4lectures ALL seperated by a few empty slots, so its £4+!!!!!

and where is this money going? no not extra security for the carparks, its going into the usual uni places and paying for the several thousand pounds worth of ticket machines that keep getting vandalised by pissed off students and staff.

idiots.

before christmas the police had a crackdown on people parking all over the spot in dangerous location to avoid the stupid car parking prices.
I got a warnign ticket, so did A LOT of other people, but nothing ever came of it. they probably have some sympathy for us

well there isnt anywhere to park at my college! :( but its free, theres 2 small estates nearby where loads of people park! you can hardley drive around the estate, but i park outside of the college on a grass verge which i'm sure causes the residents less grief.. oh well 1 more car to clutter up their street

our college car park is tiny. well we have 3 but one is for staff, one for students and one near the art block, but the local council have now decided its their carpark and will clamp if anyone parks there. so now theres extra students and staff trying to fit in a tiny carpark, many are now resorting to parking on the main drive and the street outside which is dangerous as there is a sharp corner that a lot of people speed round

well my college have taken on more students than they can handle , same as eveyr year (200 to many this year, and an extra 2-400 next year  ) so they decided lets take up student parking with two new crap porta cabins, well we aint happy, were gonna resort to parking in teacher parking soon its getting so full, the parking area is tiny atm were on grass and allsorts . they wotn sort it either which is very annoying

Ironically, one of the reasons I chose my University is because it had decent car parking for students. As I will have to commute 9 miles each way (public transport would mean two trains, a bus and walking) this was important for me. My campus is in the middle of the Buckinghamshire countryside, yet is still classed as a London University! This probably only applies to my specific course as all the nursing student placements are undertaken in West London. The main campus is in High Wycombe, and they DON'T have parking for students.

I feel very lucky to be going to my chosen University and can enjoy travelling by Fiat there and back every day, plus will have somewhere to park too :)

dont think i'm gonna pay it. going to ring them and see what they say, i'll take a picture to show where i park so you can decide if it's legal or not, just annoying putting a wanring and then a ticket!! or maybe at the same time :( i only get £30 a week from college

Do they need to put on a warning? Doubt it? Hence what can you argue?

This is the real world, illegal parking, £1200+ contract parking per year etc. few unis offer proper parking facilities.

why did they bother with a warning only to give me no chance of moving?! thats what has annoyed me, and yer your right this is the real word.. i think

You got it lucky, if i want to get a parking space near the uni i have to be there before 9am or after 6pm, and pay £6.50 for 4+ hours! Its a small carpark right next to my uni, but not uni controlled. We're not allowed to park in uni grounds at all (which is a pisstake considering they've built another carpark for 200+ cars in the grounds to go with the already generous parking),

So instead, i park about a mile away for free and walk :p

i've had a few of them over the years and never once paid any of them. if they send you a letter and double the fine, ignore that as well. if you get a court summons ignore that too. yes in theory a warrant for your arrest will be issued for failing to appear at court, but if that was true there would be at least 6 warrants for my arrest. only once have I been arrested for failing to appear at court, and that was only becasue i failed to appear 3 times in a row for fairly serious driving offences and they wanted to ban me, not because i didnt pay a crappy little parking ticket.
