Don't car drivers make you mad?

Paul, your definitely making a habit of this!;)

Seriously tho, I used to cycle to work (8mile trip too ironically!) and now full well how some drivers behave towards cyclists, some of them actually go out of their way to cause inconvenience[:(!]

My girlfriend rides (we just bought a new horse!) so I'm also well aware of the lack of consideration all to often shown there too, some people just like to be awkward:(

James, I think it is due to a build up in stress due to my exam lead life style! I have to stop it, I will be the next victim of road rage soon :(

I really feel unfit now, 16 mile round trip? USed to do it a few times a month to my school but that was a maximum of 8 miles round trip; made me worse at school though on that day - did always have a heavy bag however.

I have never understood riding a horse, it's a horse! It's like riding a big dog. I can control how i walk, cycle and drive but a horse has its own brain - that's scary.

Dave; I notice that to, think it is VERY annoying to car drivers and wouldn't dream of doing it myself.

My first signiture (a lot of thought put into it): If you can't find the switch to switch your fogs off I am sure I can help you! Damn fogs.

Yeah, 16 mile round trip, plus at the time I often used to run in my lunch hour too, and call at the gym and do weights on my way home[:0] I was sooooo fit, need to get back there this summer;)

Horse riding is great, the horse having a brain of its own can actually help you know, a bike doesnt care if it smacks into a hard object, whereas a horse has a vested interest in avoiding it:D

Dave, I hate cyclist who suddenly become pedestrians when the lights change against them[:(!]

I have been known to do that (i know, i'm a bad person) but this would be as a 14 year old. It feels weird to sit in a long queue of traffic with an empty pavement next to you and not take advantage.

LOL about a horse, still couldn't trust one, he might throw me off and then stamp on me, my bike won't do that ;)

James, where did you find the time?!

My first signiture (a lot of thought put into it): If you can't find the switch to switch your fogs off I am sure I can help you! Damn fogs.

I went horse riding once when i was at school, no one said that if the horse bends down to eat grass you let go of the rains! horse goes up to a large wooden post where the grass was long bends down to eat the grass me still holding tight to the rains bang i go over the horses head and to the ground banging my head on the post:(
Then i get back on the horse, and the girl who was supposed to be teaching us takes us all through the woods she rides very fast and our horses follow, we had no control at all, She also didn't point out that we had to keep our heads down to avoid the tree branches. Never again did i try horse riding
:(

Also i live in the sticks, lots of narrow roads with lots of horses, i would like to pass wide, but this is imposible because the horse riders ride side by side with on of them in the middle of the road, surley it would be safer if they rode in single file,
Also (i am probaly ranting now) how come if you want to ride a moped motor bike or car you need a licence, but you can ride a horse on the road at any age with no knolege of the highway code or anything[:0]

Sorry cinqmeister - but if your cycle paths are anything like many of ours in Nottingham, you have to swerve a lot to avoid the potholes [:(!]

And some of them are so narrow they are dangerous [:(!]

Please don't tar all cyclists with the same brush - there are plenty of lunatic cyclists as well as lunatic drivers!

Put it this way, I'm 33 years older than Paul and I can really say that both points are correct.

There are a hell of a lot more cars on the road since 1970 (when I started driving) and another problem is the "I couldn't care less" attitude which applies to all aspects of life, not just driving!

I often wonder if I annoy other road users as much as they annoy me! However I DO observe road signs and conditions and stick to the law as much as possible and try not to do silly maneouvres at inappropriate times. I also try to be courteous eg. letting people out of side roads onto a busy main road.

However if I meet a rude, stoopid driver then I am learning very fast how to be a pain in the proverbial backside, especially due to some hints and tips learned on here. Following my wee bump, my mastering of 'braking without activating the brake lights' is coming along nicely thanks ;). As is my 'putting the foot down and going to get away from trouble' maneouvre.

Getting tailgaiters of your arse is another good skill... left foot brake only enough to make the light come on whilst still accelerating ;)

MMy left foot isn't smooth on the brake.

LOL, did it once too on a VERY clear road a few weeks after passing test assuming it would be fine. For some reason Idon't have such control over my left foot! You start so softly but then suddenly, your foot bites harder on it and just stops you in your tracks. Nearly locked my dad's car up and forgot about it since!

I have a track day around silverstone in a single seater sports car in the Summer (present from gf :) ) so maybe I will give it a go then?

Use the handbrake, less work on your brake lights!

but bulbs use electricity, electricity costs money, money is expensive and I am poor.

Simple :p

All that normal braking does is use up my money therefore. QED
