ARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!

Can I just recommend that everyone stays away from this bloody company! I though NTL were bad but this takes the ****....

The BB service is pathetic, constant disconnections and it just will not accept P2P programs. It's almost as slow as dial up and the modem is constantly crashing and needing reinstalled.

On top of this I've just found out that you have to use a prefix before calling the Republic of Ireland or they charge you, despite me being told that RoI calls were included in my talk plan and no mention of any prefixes being made!

My bills at the start were £15 a month, great, but they soon ramped that up, £75 this month despite no change in call patterns!

I'm really really really pissed off at them.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I've just sent this email to them, hopefully I'll get a reasonable response.

"Having just spoken to Gary in customer services about my latest bill, I have just been informed that I have to use a prefix (18418) before calling the Republic of Ireland in order to have these calls included in my Talk Plan. I signed up for Talk3 in a Carphone Warehouse branch and at no stage was this mentioned, the first I knew of it was Gary telling me. Calls to Ireland on my latest bill total £17.86. I am very unhappy that this prefix was not made clear and want this amount credited. My experience of Talk Talk prior to signing up for the Broadband service and Talk 3 was good, but that has changed. I am sick of being disconnected and cannot use P2P programs. This amounts to a breach of contract as Talk Talk are clearly throttling the BB service due to oversubscription. This latest episode regarding the international prefix is almost the last straw. No-one went through any terms and condition, all they were interested in was telling me how terrific the BB service was and what a bargain it was. Gary has opened a complaint and said it will take 3 weeks. Basically I want this dealt with before the 3rd November when the direct debit is supposed to come out of my account, I want the amount taken adjusted. If it is not I will cancel the Talk Talk service due to breach of BB contract and return to BT!"

I steered clear of Talk Talk simply because the cheap price means something can't be right - and it seems it's more than something. I've recently gone with Nildram for BB and for another £5 a month get 3000 minutes (50 hours) to UK landlines. Before we moved we used NTL, who rarely had any problems. BT on the other hand needed a whole month to get a phone line (that was already there) working on our brand new house.

I set up talk Talk broadband at a colleagues house the other night. The modem simply didn't work properly (wouldn't sync), so I supplied a router. Then the connection worked, but it was incredibly slow. Wierd, because pings were very fast (40ms), but the overall user experience was terrible. I don't think I've spent so much time pressing F5 since I used dialup on a 33.6k modem!
I use them for calls, but they have an OK track record there. Broadband is definitely not something I'd want to switch to...
They also send my bills to H Nalldt

I know my folks went over to TT for finacial reasons and 'ease' apparentley. The phone package is adequate although unless you want several million mobile phones, new double glazing, etc etc then steer well clear folks!
Sales people will phone anything between 5 and 20 times in a day for gods sake! best stick with what you've got!:bang:

got to say, I've always slated them, BUT AOL have just bucked their acts up at our end.

our contract was up, so we were looking for a phone and BB package in one. (unlimited preferably).

eventually at end of day phoned AOL, and they said.
well you've been with us for two years on our basic £17.99 a month BB,
we'll reward you for not changing on us by giving you your unlimited phone calls for £7.99, and REDUCE the price of your broadband to 8.99 (or something).
so we got a quid off a month and got the phone deal for free (mother works from home so runs up £1000+ phone bills:eek: ).

then 1 month later we got a letter thru post confirming the contract AND that at the end of november we would be upgraded to the next tier of BB speed for free (because the houses at our end of village are getting upgraded then, and they want us to stay with them).

aol customer service is always fairly quick, you've still got to wait, but no more than about 40sec's.
they have an online query thing were something will chat you thru steps of fixing something.
never overcharged us or screwed up billing.
£7.99 a month of unlimited phone calls, MEANS UNLIMITED!!:slayer:

generally, if you suffer slow BB and lots of disconnections it is more to do with your local exchange getting over subscribed. since any BT line based BB will have to use the same exchange it should not matter which provider you go with. Unless you use cable you are stuck with the same BT line based limitations.

For this reason the speed and consistency of your BB connection is more to do with where you live than who you're with. If you live in an area with a lot of users, and BT has not upgraded your local exchange yet, then there is nothing you can do about it except move house or switch to cable or satellite.

The good news is BT is already rolling out its exchange upgrades, much of London has already been done, and next on the list are major UK cities, followed by the rest of the UK. the whole of the UK should be done by 2010 (yeah right:rolleyes: ). Although the upgrades will still not make 8mbps possible for 96% of the uk, it will mean much faster and more reliable connections, and the upgrades are supposed to allow the expected growth of BB.

so stop blaming your ISP, stop watching watchdog, and start learning to be patient. we live in a country where technology is not a priority, if it was we'd have a fibre optic backbone like most countries. but we dont, so instead of crying about it lets all blame BT and send them nasty letters. no one reads them but it makes you feel better. :)

BTW i'm with talk talk and £29.99 a month includes my line rental, free calls all day every day to any uk number, and free unlimited 8mbps broadband. my bills are always perfect and i've never had a problem. their customer service is crap over the phone (45minute queues) but excellent online.

i've experienced BT and homecall in the past, and both were far far worse, especially BT. but to be honest they're all crap, all internet, telephone, gas electric, glazing, conservatory, garages, car dealers, plumbers, etc etc etc are all crap rip offs. and with good reason, they're too busy making money to care. if you want good customer servcie you need to be a good customer. do you think a few quid a month will buy you customer service? no it wont. at work we dont even listen to our small customers, unless you spend a few million a year you aren't important enough.
