a few months ago, i posted some questions on whether the fiat punto would handle the trip we were going to take to europe. well, we are back now and i thought i would follow up.

the punto was GREAT!
i was really impressed with it overall. it was one of the cheapest models so i wasn't sure how it would do, but it handled great, drove fast and smooth through the dolomites to austria, was agile going into the mountains passes to slovenia, and was fuel efficient and quick driving through the center of milan.

overall, i was pretty impressed with it.
thanks for the input given earlier. the punto didn't disappoint.

Was it the 1.2 16v you hired? One thing you didn't mention... was it fun?

Oh.. p.s. how was your holiday/vacation?

yeah it was fun, both the car and the vacation. the vacation was fun for more reasons than the car, which was merely the transportation to and from the real fun, but if the car doesn't work well, then it becomes something that takes away from the overall.

the punto was great in every sense. i wouldn't actually mind getting one for myself at this point.

i believe it was the 1.2, but i didn't really concern myself with details of it.
but it was smooth even at 160, and i had no problems passing other cars on the autostrade.

i may still get a few tickets though, since no one told me about the speed limits in austria until after i went sailing through the tunnels at 150. i wondered what those blinking signs were.....

you wont receive speeding tickets from another country, i used to work with italians and when they went home in a brittish car, rented a car over there etc, they never heard anything back, same if you got a foreign car over here, and live here you can go through the speed cameras and will not get punished because the cars registered in italy or wherever, was in an italian registered car with a guy i used to work with and he got flashed by 9 or 10 different cameras, and never heard a thing back, dont know why they done bother chasing ppl up, but they dont!
