Just when i think my car is past that 'stage' in its life that they often get to where they throw a strop and ask for alot of new parts (suspension, bushes etc) then i have to endure this site for like, the fourth time now

Ive almost given up hope of my car ever bein in a good mood with me agen :(

It snapped the divers side drive shaft n sent me into the ditch, lucky i was only goin about 20mph behind a lorry, i shifted down to overtake, accelerated and a nice crack n a smack from the flailing end of the driveshaft. :( Clutch went recently, brakes set on fire and the fuel filter clogged n stopped the car from running too so this is the fourth tiem ive had to view the crapvan from behind to home (n)

Yeh, strange as i ahve no engine mods. It snapped just before beside teh balancer too, in the middle of the shaft, and not by the hub, its a fiat part as its stil got its sticker on the shaft, not a spurious/pattern make. Must've just had a bit of a weakness in the material

could have been far worse, thankfully, you're uninjured, a bit of work to the car you're back in business

Yeh thats the brightside i know (y) Just gona cost alot to fix :( as i ahve to replace both front arms as well coz the bushes were a bit knackered befreo n now they've had a curb smack them up quick they're even worse. It mite be that the car is twisted or my alloys r buckled but it tracked awfully. pulled left AND right wheneer it efelt like it. I'll ahve to plum it up 2morrow on the hoist :(

dont worry, I experienced this with my first car, a seat ibiza.

I didnt throw a drive shaft but the engine seized, then about 6 months later the brakes fooked- applying different forces at four corners, then a sensor failed on the engine that monitors whether the choke should be on or off, or if the car is too hot to run. Then when everythings ok, the alternator failed spectaculary about 30 miles from home, just managed to get back on the battery, Then it got vandalised in preston as some joker kicked the front grill in. Then it had running problems which required new coil, leads, dizzy cap and rotar arm and plugs, and for some reason they were double the price of any other ibiza engin so it cost nearly £170 for that, then, when I decided to sell it and start looking for a stilo, it ran perfect for six months, until the night before taking it to the garage to get the stilo- the brakes failed and seized on!

There is other stuff like exhausts dropping off, then being rear ended as well but it goes to show that other people have these problems to

Things wrong with my punto atm:
  • Dented bonnet & wings
  • brakes still seem to be wrong
  • one front shock is currently bad the other is partially ceased
  • gearbox is playing up for no g'damn reason
  • there's a ringing sound coming from the top of the engine
  • exhaust is rotted badly & I have a feeling that the cat is gonna need replacing
  • it's developed mean ass dead spot at about 1750 rpm

Yeah specially when your battered ole 60S wanders up to a sporting, passes and slowly but surly pulls away :D pure WTF?!

My dead spot at those RPMs went away after a service Stonenewt. Plugs, oil, air, fuel and oil filters. Now pulls smoothly from low revs, something it never used to do!

Sure hope I don't snap a shaft!
I'll sort the dead spot out latter right now I have a few more pressing matters -
* brakes still seem to be wrong

god are you telling someone to look on the brightside?

That's CRUEL Custard!!!!! PMSL :D :D :D

Poor Ryan. He's always going to get stick for his Marea saga, though credit to the guy for perservering (even though he nearly threw in the towel a few days ago). At least the Marea FINALLY got sorted, despite being put on diagnostics by so called 'professionals'

And Punto Jr., a snapped driveshaft??!!!!!!

I've just bought myself a Punto and am wondering what I'm letting myself in for.:( Good thing I'm keeping hold of the Uno, which in 3 years and 30K (thrashed) miles has never let me down. Might need it as a back-up vehicle seeing the drama everyone else has with Puntos ;)
