hello eveyone, i pulled this motor from an old cine projector a while back and am looking to get this motor running, butt.... i cant seem to get it to run.... it doesnt seem to be a regular motor in the way it works.

it has 8 wires comming out of it shows in one pic and you can see the inside of the motor in the second..

is this just a DC motor? as i have no knolage of how they work, any help is apriciated.

Not much to go on or any experience with specific motor but possible that multiple wires allow for stepper motor functions.

Multiple wires could be variable switching, like instead of on off switch, it was connected to other things to control speed.

Dont think stepper motor would use this as it would need something to cut it out to step.

Why put a stepper motor in a cine projector anyway?

Have seen stepper motors with multiple wires that's the only reason i mentioned.

as a guess, live,reverse live,rheostat live,three neutrel wires safety cut out wire[perhaps]and earth.

right, i'm still not having any luck with this, the wires are as follows:

2x Orange
2x Black
1x Red
1x Brown
1x Blue
1x White

theres no model number on the motor so i cant find out anything about it

i have a nervess feeling about this.i think you could end up making this live to touch.junk it!!

i think its a 24V motor... could be why i'm having problems...

if its old,i very much doubt its 24v.are you sure its not 12v and 240 v?

the reason i suspect its 24v is that the lamp i took from the projector was 24V which i mappened to misread for 240V and they blew the damn thing up...

which is dimmer.the bulb or you? doh!!

I am guessing that the eight wires could be four pairs. Each pair would energise a winding inside. A continuity(sp?) test would comfirm it unless there is a fault in the windings

i think this motor runs at a lower power due to a transformer perhaps.thats why it has/had a 24v bulb.JUNK IT BEFORE YOU FRY YOURSELF!!!! YOU COULD BE THE BULB!!!!!
