Not too long ago I allowed myself the luxury of installing a mains powered shower pump: https://www.salamanderpumps.co.uk/product/ct-50-xtra-ct50-xtra/12 It gives a most invigorating performance (Mrs J recons you could use it to strip paint! but I love it. It occurs to me that it could become a real life saver if the loo roll shortage continues!

The shower head is installed over our bath and I'm just trying to figure out whether it would be necessary to strip and climb into the bath entirely or whether one might just sit on the edge of the bath? Mrs J says she prefers not to think about it! Great care would need to be taken with aim though as the pressure is such that it easily reaches the ceiling if pointed straight up!

ben tell them about them jet wash toilets

For several weeks now, I've been seeing adverts for the new Corsa, but never actually seen the car itself. The other day, I even peeked through the window of the Vauxhall dealer opposite my road, and still didn't see 1, which made me wonder if they were even available to buy yet. Then today, whilst out getting my legally permitted exercise, I saw 2 of the things! You wait for ages, then 2 come at once...

Out for a walk, at the bottom of the road was a '20' registration Golf. First '20' I've seen. Looks very odd, had to do a double-take as it looked like a foreign plate.

Then it dawned on me, this is a replacement for the GTE the guy had. But this is a GTi, so no electric. GTE was either full electric, or a hybrid, and got plugged in regularly. Interesting that he has changed to normal ICE.

Maybe he had the hybrid version.

Well my 500X is due for a service which I do now that it is out of warranty.

I have all the parts (plugs, oil, filters, etc) and the will BUT I'm holding off because with so many Fiat/other parts sources either closed or on restricted/limited operation then there is (as always with car maintenance) something that could go wrong.

That's also my excuse for not doing Becky's rear wheel cylinders!

Indeed. After 47 years of Fiat/other vehicle maintenance then experience has shown that things go wrong or don't work/go as expected. Many garages can work around those "oh ****" moments but for the DIY person, even with long experience and parts and tools and ..... one can be easily stuffed.

Nothing worse than...oh I need a "X"..local motor factors doesn't have one.. but the dealer 10 miles away does. Buuut the cars in bits and won't go back together with it.

Multiplied by 10 in the current circumstances with half the dealers shut and most the motor factors.

Usually caused by a rusty something or other...that doesn't want to come off and is then no condition to go back on.

My thoughts exactly especially looking at the corrosion on the cylinder bolts, tube nuts and even the metal pipes. Better left until this lock down is eased a bit.

Just before the lockdown I ordered seal rubbers so I could rebuild the Panda rear brake calipers. Oh no the job needed some 90 degree angled circlip pliers. Local factors closed so ordered from a UK supplier on eBay. Except the supplier was Chinese and very not in Bradford where advertised.

I now have a Royal Mail tracking number for an item that been "on its way to the RDC" for 2 weeks. What's the chance of it ever turning up?

The car is still on axle stands :(

From China, likely to be handled very carefully/suspiciously, so a longer delay than usual. Might even be refused, but I would hope that you'd be informed sometime.

Have you seen these guys? https://brakeparts.co.uk/shop/Fiat/...rol/Rear - Brake Calipers and Wheel Cylinders

I've used them a few times, good stuff, quick service.
