I don't like using other people's misfortune as entertainment, and I hope
no-one will think that's the reason for this post, but for anyone who is blase about driving on the Motorway, this may be a salutory lesson. Similar things have happened here with similar results.

Well I hadn't seen it before so there! From the commentary I think it was on the A4 Autostrada from Mestre to Trieste past Venice. 7 dead and 15 injured.
Not been able to find out why, my Italian isn't good enough. Anybody notice the van at the bottom of the screen? I know he lost it in the end but he put up a hell of a fight.

That truck just turned left? Have to feel sorry for the red truck and the car alongside it at that start of the crash they got about a second to put the brakes on and be obliterated.

i dont want to go on a motorway ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, again

A couple of the things I noticed was how the driver of the van the truck hit initially managed to keep it upright for so long and as arc pointed out there were 2 cars alongside the red HGV on the opposite carriageway. If they'd been futher apart one of them would have survived. I also noticed how quickly all the drivers reacted. I think we'd have been a lot slower in this country.

nasty!

white van man is a very poor driver imo. they had ample opportunity to stop but instead they decided to fishtail about like a tard until it flipped over. wtf?!

I think we all take Motorway driving for granted and that if something happened we could avoid it, or take evading action....Those poor people in the two cars and the truck on the opposite carriageway didn't stand a chance....

That is horrendous. What kind of steering input would be required to deviate off course like that? Mechanical failure or suicide perhaps?
Central reservation failed at that angle too. Poor buggers.

wasn't it a blow out.

I couldn't imagen (and dont want to) being in that situation and imagen if you had your loved ones with you. It doesn't bare thinking about it.

My thoughts are with the people involed that was unavoidable for all partys. The white van man was so lucky 1 or two seconds sooner and he wouldn't of got of the front bumper of the lorry and the van would have been crushed by the impact of it hitting the other lorry.

This is so sad. One second your peacfully driving along listening to your favorite cd with maybe your family then BAM!!! your gone! with no chance to save yourself (n)
But Im with jug on this one, why doesnt the white van man slow down instead of over steering left and right?!

If you can see something coming you might; might, stand a chance of doing the right thing, but everyday people see what they're going to hit with plenty of time and still hit it. In that case, with no idea what has happened I think he did a superb job. If you don't know what happened you don't know how to counter it. We also have no idea how shocked or disoriented he was.
