drink driving!

drink driving!

does it matter? remember the roadside test is based on your breath, one can set the machine off, and although you may well be under at the station, is it worth the risk to find out?

Well no. Was just curious. I personally think it would be a whole lot clearer if like other countrys we had a 0 drink drive tolerance. If you've had any alcohol you don't drive, I've only consumed alchole once and driven, but looked back and wished not (even though I was within the limit).

As you say its not worth the risk.

them road side test arn't very good, i have been over and passed and under and failed but blown well under on the big machine so its abit hit and miss with them.

Drank drove once scared me to death never done it since

I was ,moving parking space and so
I cudnt do clutch too well or accelerator missed steering wheel
also my reactions was gone
too scared to mix drink and driving now

After getting 2 meters i pushed the car into the parking space without frost

i dont touch a drop of alcohol if im out because i know that even with 1 pint i would probably be over the limit, as i am slim i cant drink as much as some people can, and it will have greater affect on me.

if i drink a few the night before, i will often find myself not going out the next day in my car just in case (y)

hence the reason why at my cousins wedding, i am having the friday we arrive as the night i drink lots, and then having the saturday night as just a few glasses of wine night :D

then i can set off on the 240 mile journey back with a clear head and not risk it

A couple glasses of wine can be just as bad!

if i start drinking jd and coke, or vodka and red bull i wont stop :D

if i have a few glasses of wine with my meal the night before (we arent setting off until 1pm the next day), it isnt go to have to much effect :p

then i can move onto j20's (y)(y)

i used to drink loads of coke, then i recently realised that a j20 in some places ont set you back much more (went to one pub in the town near me and it was less for a j20 then it was for a pint of coke), so i drink more of them now :D

Silly suggestion but one im sure will work... simply get all the drink drivers ALL of them not just some and line them up on a runway or suamt and send some trained drivers at them at speed and poor control see how they feel. Maybe a small wake up call ?

I think the question has been pretty thoroughly answered here, but to add my 2 penn'th, If you're breath tested at the side of the road, then you will probably have been seen driving erratically, committing an offence such as speeding, been reported by a member of the public or been involved in a road traffic collision. The road-side breath test, in itself, is not sufficient to secure a conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol, but, it is enough to provide the grounds to arrest you on suspicion. The real evidence comes when a driver takes a test back at the Police Station.
It is an automatic disqualification if you are found guilty of this offence. If the level of alcohol is high enough, or it is a repeat offence, then the penalty will become increasingly stiffer, with the possibility of a re-test or prison sentence. As a bit of an old git (no hair in the ears yet) I think the attitude of the obviously younger visitors to this site is bloody brilliant and at odds with that of my peers in the'70's. I've only once driven over the limit and that was 30 years ago, but, one thing I remember about that short drive was that I drove faster everywhere on the journey home. There are many reasons why some people test positive wheras others are under the limit, so best not to risk it. The only other thing to bear in mind these days is cananbis and the like. Although there is no roadside test for drugs, you can still be arrested on suspiscion of driving under the influence of drink or drugs. Also, if someone is diabetic, alcohol can, and does reduce blood sugar levels, thereby exacerbating the lack of co-ordination experienced by drink. Even non-diabetics can suffer similar symptoms, which is one of the reason that after a skinful, most people stop off for a take away on the way home.
