One of the girls at work has got a coolant leak, I had a look and it appears to be comming from the plastic thermostat housing. It also appears to have a bolt missing as if it's been replaced poorly in the past.

If anyone has one of these cars could you please let me know if the thermostat housing has 3 or 4 bolts holding it in place and whether it's a common fault.

Thanks.

seems the 1.4 has only 2 bolts.
here's an example of one

and a view from the other side

Thanks for that, I thought it was a 1.4 but it looks nothing like that ?

It's like a rectangular plate attached to the gearbox end of the head which encompases a triangular plastic box with umpteen water pipes running into it and what appears to be a water temp sensor the header tank also has a small pipe that runs into it.

i think my pics are from a 1.4 petrol not the HDI :bang:

i texted a friend with a 1.4HDI and asked her to check on her car, but she doesnt know what a thermostat housing is lol :)

ah 206's and their infinitely shtty coolant systems

I've replaced TWO failed water pumps, both cars had less than 30k on them.
two cambelts (Well same cars ), a blocked radiator on another, oh the coolant hoses sheared on that, and it was a 03 plate!!! and stuck thermostats are a joke, such ungainly things, unlike a fiat fire engine where you can change one in under 10mins with just 1 tool (y)
