Preparing the surface
After you have removed the wheel, rub it down with a wire brush or scotch cloth. When most of the brake dust & road debris has been loosened blow it off & apply copious amounts of brake cleaner/panel wipe to degrease the area in which you intend to paint & leave to dry.
