Remove battery lead 1st, unclick earth lead i always remove both terminals oldschool way how i was taught disconnect oil pressure sensor lead on oil filter housing.
Then jack up car put safely on axle stands i alway give the car a little wobble don't want it dropping on me got my legs trapped between sills and a kerb under a mini once lots off bruising no broke bone silly 17 year old mistake.
Remove drivers side wheel, remove long straight bracket 2/14mm bolts, remove plastic cover 3 pozi drive screws mine were rusty so i will replace them, remove water pump cover 3 10mm hex heads, de tension belt pulley downwards with socket wrench and 7mm square adapter, i made one by grinding down 3/8 square on a 1/2 to 3/8 socket adapter, take off the belt, unclip metal aircon pipe and loosen the bracket so you have room to take the alternator out, take wires off the starter motor one of these is attached to the alternator live connection, now the fun starts the bottom two alternator bolts come out easy the top one is a b/stard so to and you need to have thin arms or be double jointed there is not much room to work with, when you have taken that out unclip the lead for the intelligent circuit to the alternator, you could take this off before but my arms are to big,
Once this is done you have access to the cooler, its held on by 5/10 mm bolts these can be got to from above behind the filter housing and below behind the starter motor, but drain oil and coolant before, then remove the oil cooler, then reverse the process, put cooler on smear some silicon on the oil seals put alternator reconnect all the plugs you took off crank sensor oil pressure sensor alternator sensor refit air filter and battery connectors refit belt, covers wheel etc, then put 3.2 litres fresh oil in and new filter, fill coolant back up and bleed the coolant via radiator bleed bolt on top of radiator till the air is gone start it up and turn heater up to max then check for leaks, hopefully everything
Is fine and go and have warm beverage or whatever your tipple is and check again for leaks the next day breath a sigh of relief if its all good and hope you never have to do this again it a PIA phew the last picture is the old and new coolers the brown round the top oring was where the coolant was leaking the seal round the oil section had gone hard so probably that would have gone as well,
