Changing driver’s/passenger’s door lock on a Seicento if your lock is broken or is a result of an attempted break-in.

Tools you will require are:-

Allen Keys or allen screw bits
Pliers
Small screwdriver

You can either get a lock from a scrappies for about £10 if you’re not bothered about having two different keys or you can get a locksmith to create a new lock for your existing key for about £30 including delivery.
I chose www.duplicut.co.uk to create a new lock from my key. I just had to post a spare key to Duplicut to create a lock and they returned it via Special Delivery.

1. Remove the armrest by taking out the 3 screws with the allen key, One of the screws is located under a rubber cap, under the door handle. (You will need to hold the handle open while unscrewing this screw). Once all the screws are out the armrest will still be held on with studs give it a light pull and lift over the handle.

2. Remove the door trim/card. This is just held on with plastic studs, do one at a time working your way ‘round the door trim/card.

3. Remove the waterproofing from the door by gently peeling the edges (this will stick back on afterwards). There’s no need to remove the whole of the waterproofing, just remove enough to access the lock.

4. Remove the clip by sliding it from behind the lock. If you can’t remove it by hand, a good pair of pliers should remove it.

5. Take out the lock from the outside making sure that you don’t damage the paintwork. The lock will be in a plastic housing with 2 prongs sticking out on the (left side driver’s, right side passenger’s).

For those who have got a lock done to match the key
The casing/lock surround may be different so you might have to swap the barrels over. (see diagram steps 1-9)

6. Put the lock back in making sure the prongs are on the (left side driver’s, right side passenger’s).

7. Fit the lock by re-fitting the clip sliding it onto the back of the lock.

8. Test the lock to see if it works before putting the trim and armrest back on (I kept my boot open just in case I couldn’t open the door again). If the lock works put the door card and arm rest back on using steps 1-3 in reverse.
