First post so be gentle..

Just bought a Grande Punto Active.. and want a roof rack for it i currently have a Thule set from my old ford KA as its modular (you buy the bars, clamps and foot pads) i was hoping just to buy the foot pack and clamps rather than shelling out for a fiat own brand of rack...
I have looked on Thules website and searched several roof rack sellers and cant find one listed by Thule, mont blanc, or paddy hopkirk.

Has anyone managed to source a set of Thule bars as either they aren't making them yet or they haven't got round to adding them into the online catalogue?

Secondly

Does anyone know if the floor pan is pre drilled or does it require drilling to mount a towbar bracket I'm well up on in car electrics so that's not a problem but i don't fancy drilling the floor pan on a new car id rather leave that to a dealer as i don't want to void the warranty :worship:

Many thanks in advance..

just to let you know i have had a quote form Aramtage trailers in Knottingly (near Pontifract) for £210 ish for a tow bar need the 7 way split relay for the electrics as it has bulb failure detection..

And thule say that the Original 760 bars and 750 brackets i have form the KA will fit however i need the Punto Foot Kit (basically four rubber pads and 4 plastic coated metal plates) but this wont be out until October time :bang: The kit should only cost £20 - £30 so i either wait till October or spend god knows what on a genuine Fiat rack But I'm still waiting for Stoneacre to get back in touch asked the sales man who promised to ring me back on Tuesday still waiting and rung the parts department on Thursday still no reply...(n) Probably ring the Independent Fiat dealer at Driffield if i dont hear anything tomorow

not far from me :D

that price looks a bit steep for the bar just found this http://stores.channeladvisor.com/towbar/items/item.aspx?itemid=3704179 £109 incl basic wiring kit im assuming severn pin plastic N socket and 1.5 mtrs of wire and 7 scothc locks.. but i'd need this http://stores.channeladvisor.com/towbar/Items/TF2217Ukit?

Going to try Doncaster towbars tomorow when i get up... Coke and red bull tends to keep me wide awake til at least 3am stilll it keeps a clean licence..

Id fit it mysef but dont fancy removing the bumper and cutting the underside of it and the dealer told me on the quiet that they use donny towbars instead of doing it in house.. Shame they dont do a bolt on ball as i'd be able to get a drop on cycle carier with the added advantage of been able to fit a bumper protection plate or snake master type bracket (not that id use the snake master) but you should see the care people take when they park behind my dads Focus with a big feck off steel plate and towbar :D but id use the ball for trips to the tip and camping/ mountain biking trips its only the 1.2 active but it'll do me fine

BTW Applesei i live in the **** hole known as Goole...

just a belated update Had the local motor factors ring me up and Thule have finally got the GP Fitting kit into the UK and it should be at Motorcount tomorrow all been well..

will get a photo of it when i get round to it atleast my mountain bike wont have to go in the boot any more

Someone has been selling a towbar on ebay.
They have listed it a couple of times now, but i don't think it has sold.

I think from memory it was only starting at £25, with a buy it now of £40.

Original Fiat equipment too.

Put "grande punto tow" or similar as a saved search, and see if it comes up again.

Also, i'm pretty sure, but can be corrected, that towbars cannot be mounted via drilling anymore, due to eu regulations. So direct bolting to pre existing holes is almost certain.

deeyup

A year or so ago I fitted a detachable Bosal tow bar to my wife's car. She's got a Renault Megane Estate and I mostly use it to tow my motorbike trailer and stuff... Was quite easy to fit and basically replaced the metal bumper thing underneath the pastic bumper at the rear. Not sure though if the GP will be the same...

Attached a couple photos

Anyway... I got it from this place http://www.towequipe.co.uk/ and a quick check just now shows they have these tow bars now for the Grande Punto too. Click on "Fiat" on the left, then "Punto" and then "Detachable Towbar". Finally scroll down about half way and there they are.

Hope that helps...
