I have a 1.4 JTD GP.

When i put my key in the ignition, everything is okay. Power op, radio, heater etc. it even turns on the priming of the diesel engine on. When this goes out and i try to start my engine, Nothing happens! Nothing!

Some times i have to try 3-4 times, and then it just fires up, No problem.

I know Its a diesel, But still?

Anybody knows about this?

When you say 'priming of the engine' I presume you're saying you wait for the glow plug light to go out? (the one that looks like a coil)
When you try to start it and it doesn't fire, do you hear the starter turning?

Yes That is what i mean. Sorry, english is my second language.

No not at all, No starter. Just complete silence.

It is quite possible you have an engine earth problem.



This is common on a lot of fiats and can be easily fixed with a new engine earth wire between the body of the car and the engine block.

So what do I do? I just run a wire from the engine to the body? Is it that simple?

You can test the theory by using a jump lead, before installing something more permanent (or repairing the existing one).

not just a simple wire, you need a huge section one: jump lead will do the job for testing.
Connect one side to battery negative and the other to the gearbox: if your engine starts ok your cable is dead (rotten Inside). Replace it and you'll be fine …

ps: you might also connect another jump lead to the car's body

Indeed..yes

There should be information in the FAQs. As the top of the GP page.

Basically using an additional cable..as a test... if it works ..fit a more permanent replacement.
