Please help a lady in need ??
I have a 57 punto with the immobiliser light on and now can't start the car... last night it did turn over but wouldn't start but today there is nothing when trying to start it, just not turning over at all?... called dealer and he suggested I get it towed to them so they can put it on computer at a cost of £57 plus towing charges and then however much it cost to sort the problem! Has its an old car I really don't want to spend anymore than need be so any ideas or help would be appreciated... thanks in advance

First thing to check is the battery the the ground wire.
Half of the GP starting problems are related to that bloody ground wire.

The car won't start if the immobilizer light is on. BUT it will crank!
The fact that your's doesn't crank (stopped cranking) sounds like it might be related.
Does the engine management light come on at all?

Hi,
look at the FAQ's at the top of this section ;)

poorly fitted fusebox covers mean damp innards and WEIRD electrical issues.

as a side note ;

I went to view a nonstarting GP that's on Ebay,
seller couldn't be there ..(n)

but it was "beautiful and straight" :worship:

covered in road dirt,
mirror missing, brakes looked OK , tyres were NOT. one had big chunks missing..
don't think I will be bidding..:rolleyes:

I was looking for a tidy car with a potentially easy fix..

some of these things are a couple of hours patient work.. rather than big garage bills..
